There is no reason for battlegrounds to have anything to with the raid phase. We didn’t even have this version of Alterac Valley in the original run 2005 and AB is a gamemode for PVP and one that is sorely needed because it’s not a mindless zerg and PVE battle nor is it a consume battle that only ends whenever the Druid using cheesy jumps has his internet fail and disconnects, just actual PVP.

Normally I’d use this as an opportunity to not contribute at all to the discussion
But I agree, delaying AB is just goofy weirdness.
It only improves the game by adding it now.

Delaying AB does 2 things.
1.) funnels players into the same BG’s. Even without AB, some of the WSG queues are long.
2.) Reinvigorates people to pvp who stopped. Once AB is implemented that is.
- The queues are long because people do not like playing it. You could easily farm these amounts of honor but nobody wants to play WSG because it is not more fun than AV either.
- Extremely subjective, and the possibility that people will simply get done or tired before they even get to play AB seems more likely to me.
Maybe it’s just me but isn’t AB out with phase 3?
So like it should be showing up just in time for the grind from 11 to 14? I doubt many people are giving up on the grind before that. We’re two weeks out from everyone being capped at 11 anyway.
I am sure a lot of people do, those caps are a lot harder. A lot of people just get bored of WoW and quit too.

the entire premise of mmo’s is to release content regularly to bring back people who got bored with what was there. Why do you think classic is released in phases? it’s completely objective.

I am assuming you mean the 7 to 9 and 9 to 11 caps (if you mean the later ones it’s moot, because we should have AB for that anyway)
And I disagree with the assertion that they are harder I grinded 256250 honor out of av this week to reach rank 9 next week, and it was a hell of a lot easier than grinding the 33750 honor from wpvp.
Anyone who is rank 7 this week will have enough stamina to hit the rank 11 cap.
I would take AB over both WSG and AV.
AV being free ranks ruins to joy of actually achieving ranks.

They don’t care about the user experience on this end, they just want to make sure you have to subscribe multiple months to see the content.
Arathi Basin was put in the game in patch 1.7 along with Zul’Gurub in 2005, 5 months after the honor system was put in the game and 3 months after Alterac Valley.
They might be (loosely) following the release cadence of patches from Vanilla.

Plenty of things were not in the game during original run 2005. For example we had different talent trees pre 1.12, different gear etc. Though these were often entirely useless
and people would agree the new ones are straight up updates. I argue battlegrounds with AB in is just that.
WSG is a strange “competitive” environment despite not having any skillbased matchmaking so that you’ll most likely come against people heavily using consumes while doing strange precise jumps and delaying the game for however long they want tanking any hope of getting decent honor out of it.
Now AV is of course a 40 man zerg that might or might not involve any PVP at all depending on if anyone wants to take one a 1v20 fight or just afk or phone it in playing with 1 hand.
Blizzard does not want to do this since it would be touting a game as being competitive while they think it isn’t or shouldn’t be. But really almost every game today uses some kind of ratings based matchmaking if only to improve the player experience, and if you let the community decide it’s apparent they are already very competitive about Warsong Gulch in particular.
AB rep for what? By the time AB is out that gear will be crap unless you don’t raid at all.

This phase crap for pvp ranking and AB being something that won’t come out until everyone is rank 14 – it’s crap. Their treatment of pvp players as second class citizens since SoD is disgusting.

Classic isn’t for everyone. They can go play something theme park game like retail if they aren’t interested in how Classic works. The more and more devs ruin this, the less and less players will be playing.
After learning rank 14 won’t even be available until some time after BWL releases, I don’t even want to play anymore. I don’t play time gated games, I play games I can go hard at. And that’s what classic is for. Assuming rank 14 is released 3 weeks after BWL, that means the earliest you could even get it is 7 weeks after BWL releases, basically as everyone is quitting because stupid AQ is on the doorstep.
Get this timegatecraft nonsense out of here. Stop catering EVERY G’d thing to raid loggers at the expense of players who play classic for other aspects. The game WASN’T DESIGNED around exclusively raiding. SO STOP TRYING TO TURN IT INTO THAT.

Just don’t do anything. Release a fresh classic like it’s 2006. Most people’s fresh experience was on one of the MANY new servers that launched after the honor systems and BWL was already out. It was already in place. Just do that, and stop making this like retail.
If they do that it should include the old pvp rank system with brackets and all.
