This will reduce about of idiots spamming chat for boosting services for both PvP and PvE …
Who boosts in SL? That seems like a huge waste of gold. It only takes a couple hours to get from 1-50. And a 50-60 boost seems to make less sense.
Boosting for gear is bad. But the classic forum of exp boosting has no place in retail. You can get to max level in under 8 hours why waste your gold boosting
different reasons for boosting tho? in classic boosting was conducted for levelling (mages dragging a train of low-level characters through a dungeon). in retail boosting is conducted by max level characters for max level characters for a specific thing (keys timed, aotc, pvp rating).
heck for aotc sales the boosting team usually require the boostie to strip naked and die at the beginning of the fight so they don’t mess up any mechanics. hard to counter that by making raid bosses harder to kite.
Classic boosting refers to XP boosting. Blizzard can directly change experience levels to combat it.
Retail boosting refers to paying gold (and real money illegally) in exchange for a carry through the raid for gear, achievements, mounts, etc
There is no way to stop it. It will literally never stop.
I agree, they should implement the exact same “anti-boosting” rules on retail as they did in classic…
It would change nothing because you obviously do not understand the changes…or more likely, you are just trolling.
What can they do? Add a Dps requirement to get loot?
I would support adding a loot weight in LFR based on how long you stayed alive and group contribution.
Requiring that all raid members are part of the same guild for over a week to get achievements/loot… Not that this is a good idea and I don’t want to arm blizzard with more terrible Ideas but this sounds like a “fixing what isn’t broken” blizzard approved way
No, they added mechanics to prevent mages and paladins from xp farming in certain dungeons. It literally has nothing to do with the retail concept of “boosting”
Specifically:
- Enemies inside Stratholme are using Knockdown, stunning Paladins. This stun is working through Divine Shield and Free Action Potion.
- Enemies are teleporting to Mages inside Shadow Labyrinth after being slowed and rooted a certain number of times.
- Enemies inside Maraudon become immune to all slow and root effects after a certain amount of time, similar to how it functions on Season of Mastery realms.
- Many Dungeons have mechanics to stop Mages and Paladins from Boosting, more examples are coming in. Using ledges and walls to kite and to “reset mobs” will have them teleport to you.
You could add that exact mechanic in retail and nothing would change.
Retail doesnot have much xp boosting. Having see people sell AOTC is something that does happen with retail. Is that legit. Shrug.
People in retail mainly boost for achievement completion and fomo. Then you have those who do boost or do have a gold surplus just don’t want to repeat the process of gearing, they’ve done 1-3 times but are competent enough to play in groups (like 3k/ce/glad players just wanting something new).
And then you have a group who erroneously thinks gear matters (it doesn’t past tier/season) and tries to shortcut that process. While also being incompetent in how to play but confident enough to think that the only barrier to their play is just ilvl and a few timed initial keys/lack of aotc. This group is your bricker troll population.
As for assessing who is who and passive monitoring, well that would require modifying raider io/warcraftlogs (the latter can be hidden by not logging) or importing their database and tracking extreme variances of io/gear/parse between the boostee and the boosters.
But that can easily lead to witch hunting and have blizz/rio bar you from accessing their database if you try something.
As for xp boosting, that died heavily about a month into patch 7.3.5 (was a hotfix) when blizz barred low levels from getting xp with high levels in the group. Think like level 110s grouping with level 20s sort of deal just cause there was level scaling in dungeons. Later on blizz progressively hampered characters with xp off from boosting low levels with freehold and even broke a legion legendary for DH (raddon’s eyebeam lego) to slow down boosting. You could still boost 110s and upwards in 8.2-8.3 pretty well with like freehold runs, but people were really picky with times on the runs.
Now that leveling is so easy and most people prefer chromie time, xp boosting really isn’t a thing. Like just play the game and you’ll get there.
Never underestimate an idiot and their RL money or in game gold, especially when laziness is involved.
I know what they did in this case, but I asked what Blizzard could do against retail boosting.
Paladins can still do strat runs. They just need to kill packs quicker. The knockdowns only happen 1 minute into a pull. The only thing really killed is the xp. Like you get 20 xp per elite killed as a 60 if you have a 70 in the instance.
Now as for how to kill packs quicker I think people were saying you just need to stack sp gear more. Was watching streams yesterday after the change of people wanting to clear up the situation and parse out the xp nerfs.
Indeed, that is what you said. Let me drink more caffeine.
Also, in my opinion, there is nothing that Blizzard can do to stop boosting that doesn’t negatively affect regular gameplay. Once you stop letting friends help each other gear you are really going to kill the game.
Remove the wow token.
Not the same kind of boosting there champ.
I’m pretty sure people sell carry “boosts” in Classic/TBCC and they do not have wow tokens.
