A follow up to a troll post made a bit ago today, where the person was trolling and saying the community wants addons removed… Rather an idea I always had for a while, Why not simply implement a “hard mode” in raids, where it doesn’t raise the difficulty of the raid (or removes global raid buff), rather what if there was a “hardmode” that disabled all addons for the raid.
Obviously such a mode would not for better gear, otherwise players would complain about how they are “forced” to do it even though not forced, rather a mode like this should just be for cosmetic rewards such as achievements, transmog outfit, a mount, and bragging rights.
Also I think this could make for an interesting challenge where player’s handholding and aids are taken away, so no addon to tell them who, what, where, and when to do things and instead have to micromanage and actually pay attention and rely on their skill and senses to not stand in fire, swap targets, manually time/line up cooldowns, memorize boss/add abilities, etc. Maybe a secondary world/realm first achievement for who can down the final boss on mythic hardmode as well?
You die on the first boss, your raid team is without you until next week. They can continue but you can’t? Kinda like the Undying title…
How about unsealable damage like SWG had? You stand in stuff and when you take damage it lowers your max health that a healer can’t fix. Maybe make it last a day or two before it can be “cured”
I’ve been thinking something like this too for a while but I was going to suggest the whole server type
Rp- PVP- Normal -HardMode
Hard mode obviously is the add on removal server. It would be really cool and interesting data to collect off of the players experiences and feedback between the two. I’d also suggest removing the M+ score and even gear score from the hard core server too.
