With the current state of large servers in Classic, Black Lotus is still a bottleneck for raid consumables, making flasks disproportionately expensive compared to other materials. Given how heavily contested world spawns are, bots and multiboxers tend to dominate the market, leaving legitimate players struggling to farm them at reasonable rates.
To help address this, I’d like to propose adding a Black Lotus spawn inside Dire Maul East as an alternative source within instanced content. This would:
- Provide a fair way for players to farm Black Lotus without being outcompeted by bots or forced into PvP skirmishes with organized groups controlling world spawns.
- Improve supply balance on megaservers where demand for Black Lotus is significantly higher than what world spawns can realistically support.
- Keep flask prices reasonable so that more players can afford to use them consistently without it being a massive gold sink.
- Encourage more use of Dire Maul East beyond just Tribute runs, creating more reasons to engage with the instance.
This wouldn’t eliminate open-world competition entirely but would provide an alternative route for obtaining Black Lotus in a way that still requires effort and strategy.
Would love to hear others’ thoughts on this—especially from those on high-pop servers feeling the squeeze of Black Lotus scarcity.
Blizzard, please consider this! It would be a great QoL improvement without disrupting game balance.
Thanks!
