Is the tool tip incorrect or is it broke?
It would be nice if it behaved as advertised.
It is a pain to change covenants.
Works fine for me
The jumping works for me.
My bigger problem is that, outside of Torghast, the power is completely useless in AoE and even struggles to keep up with other abilities in single target.
So does it jump 3 times on average or is it a rare event?
For me it almost always jumps 2 times.
I cast it on someone, then it jumps 2 times.
A total of 3 applications as apposed to 4 (1 first + 3 jumps).
It also jumps to you. Are you counting that?
If I cast on enemy it bounces me, enemy, ends on me. Or vice versa.
Yes, I am counting it on me.
It seems to always jump twice.
I cast it on enemy.
It jumps to me (1st).
Then jump back to enemy (2nd).
And then stops, no 3rd.
Ya it never jumps three times for me either. Seems like a tool tip bug. But I wish they would buff it.
Might be a tooltip thing. Think of the ability as having 3 charges, where each application counts as a charge. So it’s first application plus 2 bounces. If you use weak aura buff to track stacks and apply it to yourself you will see this counter. You can confirm this solo by fighting a mob solo and apply it on yourself (3 counts), let it bounce to the mob, and back again (when it bounces back it will have 1 charge).
Ya, but thats not really the letter of the tooltip. It says “alternating 3 times”. A lot of disappointments this expansion because of unclear tooltips. I really wish there was a server to test this stuff on before committing.
You, me, them. That’s “alternating” 3 different times. And you had the chances to use them while leveling up and going through the story line. Not to mention guides and videos and feedback.
But! I do hope something good comes for those who chose Necro as a Druid.
I don’t trust guides - as they are often wrong. Id much rather test things myself because my playstyle often different than others. (find me a guide that says adaptive swarm does not affect starfall for example). And are you really saying the first application counts as “alternating”? When i first cast swarm, do I alternate it onto them? no i apply it to them and then it alternates. Alternate denotes switching targets. Whenever you cast a spell that doesnt bounce - do you say that it alternates once? obviously not. I appreciate your response tho, I think we are generally in the same thought.
Yeah I guess I could see how it would be confusing with the wording. I guess when I was playing with it while leveling, I never noticed it affecting more than a total of 3 targets. So I just associate alternating up to 3 times as application counting as 1 of the counters.
I haven’t been able to log in for about a month so I can’t read the in game tooltip, but on wowdb it reads as “alternating between friend and for up to 3 times. Maybe 3 applications is commonplace and it will jump for a total of a 4th application on special occasions (like convoke with its “elite” ability having a chance to be cast)? While leveling, even in dungeons, it didn’t seem like anything lasted long enough for it to make its full turnarounds. And it was underwhelming that I often forgot about using it as well.
So I’m not sure. Rather than it “jumping”, I wonder if it would have more effect if it cast multiple swarms (up to 3-4) and whether it be on friend or foe, that can be random. At least then it could have some use between most of the specs. Could still last only 12 seconds with 3-4 swarms out at once
Out of curiosity, does it stay for 12 seconds after each jump?
