Actual phasing in Classic?

According to Blizzard’s definition and explanation of layering, layers are not supposed to “force switch”. If I understand correctly, the ONLY time a player will “switch layers” is when invited to a group in another layer.

This is just one more example of Blizzard saying one thing and doing the exact opposite, whether that was “forcedclayer changes” or sharding ecistyimg in Classic.

this isn’t layering, this is an actual phasing - you get phased into another phase when crossing magical border.

They probably forgot to turn it off for Caverns of Time, knowing that they are blocked on Classic. They didn’t know that you can actually trigger the zone by standing in the entrance

Sharding and phasing was a per-zone toggle. They forgot to toggle it in a zone that theoretically doesn’t exist on Classic.

Layering, on the other hand, is a code rewrite. And, one could guess it’s that phasing what crashes layers - because, when changing that phases at the CoT entrance, I kept getting DC’ed.

I witnessed this first hand. In the Tauren starting area, I was working on the quest to kill the battle boars. I ran up to a boar, started casting Wrath and before the cast was finished my target disappeared then suddenly reappeared 20 yards away and the cast failed.

The point of beta testing things is that there are bugs, and they are trying to find the bugs so they can fix them.

Don’t go freaking out all “Blizzard lied to us!” because there’s a bug in a beta. You find it, you figure out what made it happen, you report it, Blizzard fixes it, and the final product is better.

that was probably layering.

Maybe, I dunno, but it made me say “WhhhAAAATTTT?!” Literally, I said it just like that I swear.

then look at me getting 1.5k hit, dazed, but not losing any single HP

You’re a raid boss!

I was standing at the front of org just watching players vanish as they were entering the city.

It’s a little worrying.

If “layering” is continent wide, how could what that poster described be “layering”?

special GM code for layer hopping

klapaucis;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!

Who said that?

And if that poster was not a GM?

I would guess that if that poster had been a GM using a “special code”, he would not have been surprised when the mob disappeared.

Omar during one of his interviews.

During the interview he said you would be set to the layer per play session.

Layering was actually gamebreaking in stress test… couldnt see what others were seeing

I have played a lot in the past 2 days, I have only noticed “layering” 3x. All three were when I was running on the road to Orgimmar. I was going to pass a player heading the opposite direction and then they just slowly evaporated off the screen. We were all level 5 so I know no one were zoning into dungeons. Didn’t make sense to me either cuz there were no other players but the two of us.

That’s not layering, or at least not how Blizzard said layering would work.

But, Blizzard has never been dishonest in the past and said one thing then done the exact opposite, right?

He means the devs were actively forcing layer changes to test the interaction of changing a layer, as well as to test various layer sizes.

That OP does look like phasing… I loath it too.
