so this is a fairly new alt…I only have about 2 days total played on him
I need a list of activities to do that will catch me up on gear now that the patch is out.
I do mostly PvE but willing to do PvP if it means I’ll get better gear.
thus far I’ve done the following since the patch yesterday
- Superbloom (doesn’t seem worth it yet)
- Timewalking quest
- Dragon Isle Quest, the one where you have make the soup, dragonbane etc…
other than maybe running timewalking dungeons and heroics to get to at least 476-480…what is left in terms of events/quests that give decent gear
World Boss in Thaldraszus - Liskanoth - 499 gear.
They already did that, I was going to suggest the same until I read

Grab the weekly quest “Last Hurrah” in Vald. The soup, siege, and hunt events all give 480ish gear. It’s also a tw week. Drops are 467, but don’t turn in the tw quest until blizz fixes the ilvl for the lootbox.
Edit: Guess it helps if I actually read. Looks like you’ve done just about everything but pvp. I’d just keep spamming heroics till you can do m0’s or lfr.

This! Something I don’t really see people talking about here is that a different world boss will be empowered each week as well, matching whichever raid is awakened. Blizz really could have done well to include notes about how world content will work this season instead of leaving players to figure it out for themselves.

Unfortunately, they accidentally also turned off the vendor that helps catch you up, but you can farm Dreamsurge rares and pray to get the Dreambound BoA gear you need. The BoA gear is listed as 415 but on use gives 460

I don’t think it was accidental. Dreamsurge isn’t part of the ‘awakened’ content this week, so they’re not available at the moment. Should show up one of the next two weeks, whichever one is the one that includes Dreamsurge in the ‘awakened’ content.
You can still get Dreambound gear from rares. This isn’t the weekly token one. It’s the explorer gear vendor meant as catch-up. There’s no point in holding off on explorer gear like that.
All that holding off explorer track gear does is create a wall at lower levels before people can take on greater challenges, where gear should definitely be slowed down and tapered weekly. IF it is indeed intended, then it’s even worse, because that just shows bad design
I do expect Blizzard to open up the vendors that you don’t utilize a token (cosmetic time rift, dreambound) sometime this week, it’s more a matter of when they realize the overdid it.

oops forgot to mention that I did that as well as the world boss in emerald dream

That’s the thing though, the gear’s only gonna be scaled up while the content is awakened rather than available perpetually. I believe it’s intentional to keep the playerbase moving around from week to week. Next week stuff like hunts and community feast will be back to ‘normal’ and won’t be dropping the 480 gear that they currently are, because they won’t be awakened anymore. For better or worse, Blizz decided to include vendors in the ‘rotation’ for what’s awakened; not all world content has gear vendors though, which is probably why it seems inconsistent at the moment.
so it seems like i’ve done most of what I CAN do…which is good to know…man there’s so much its so confusing even for veteran players
You’re not understanding the difference. Dreambound gear isn’t the Veteran gear you get from those Awakened activities. It’s fine if they hold off on the Awakened gear. The Dreambound gear is much akin to World Quest gear that are in all zones right now, regardless of activity or the rares you can farm for said Dreambound gear right now. We currently don’t have something that helps shore up weak points in our gear unlike what we had in Season 3 (with the same gear), which makes low level gearing in Season 4 SLOWER, despite the season’s intention to gear you faster.
If you wait for the pre-patch event, it’s going to drop 489s for camping random mobs in the world.
Not saying don’t play, do play. Just letting you know what’s coming where you don’t have to do anything.
