If it’s anything like the last report of record profits for actiblizz, is this one also gonna include mass-layoffs of ground level employees so executives can afford to give themselves an eighth yacht?

And how much of that is due to people being stuck at home over the last year along with a new xpac launching.

Whatever dude … today’s news busted the bubble of the ‘WoW is dying’ crowd for atleast couple for days.

They’ll be back a month into 9.1 to say the game is dead again :+1:

From somebody that has been on both sides of this, it doesn’t matter and is irrelevant to what the company makes. Don’t see why people keep bringing this up.

They will be back tomorrow… as they live in an alternate reality ,

Sometimes a team wins sometimes they lose. They are celebrated with attention either way. Lets not forget hindsight and how history repeats itself.

Record profits do not prove a healthy game…

whales, bots… to name a few.
Seen people on the forums bragging they bought every store item with their stimulus check… so yea there’s that .

As old as it is WoW still manages to bring in the money that makes the investors happy.

So even if the number of subscribers would dip so low you’d think that would be it, Activision would still keep it on life support to rake in a few more bucks.

See op is DH

I agree, nerf DH

CoD =/= WoW.

Yes, More people play WoW at an expansion launch.

Lower MAUs at Christmas with a major launch in your flagship product is odd. But they did a fantastic job with ancillary transactions, so keep buying boosts the shareholders need you.

I’d bet its more tokens for paid carry at this point.

They have been making money for that last year or so. Their stock prices are the best they have been in five years, makes me glad I held on to mine. I don’t own a ton but it is worth more now then when I bought it

I see the whiners are on here . WoW is not dying anytime soon . I think it’s time to accept that.

While WoW might not be “dying”, going by the numbers, Activision wouldn’t lose much if the game did die. The whole Blizzard department turned over revenue of $579M, only $2M higher than King, but almost 3 times lower than Activision’s Game Department (Call of Duty, Crash Bandicoot, etc).

Then let’s take into account that Blizzard games only has 29 million active users that is split across WoW Retail, WoW Classic, Overwatch, Hearthstone, Heroes of the Storm, Diablo 3, and the classic games. That’s a really low number when you take these factors into account.

Again, WoW might not be “dying” but it’s not exactly pulling the numbers and revenue that it once was. When the company behind Candy Crush is doing pretty much the same amount of revenue that the whole of Blizzard is doing, I see nothing to be celebrating about.

It’s a 16 year old game … and still dominates the MMO category . Brings in serious money . Most of its contemporaries have actually died or are barely hanging on . I say WoW is doing just fine .

Oh ye of the tiny deluded mind.

I see that you’re just mindlessly defending the game that you love so much and have put way too much of your life into to actually think there might be something wrong, but lets talk about what you’ve just said, ok?

Once upon a time, World of Warcraft was a powerhouse in the MMO category, this is true. It was pulling over $1B in revenue on its own, but today it is much different. Today, $579M in revenue split across many different games. A lot less than in it’s prime.

29M active users… Sounds good doesn’t it. But again, that’s across all Blizzard games. While the next highest competitor to World of Warcraft, Final Fantasy XIV, has an active user base of around 23M with one game. (Google is your friend, please use it, I’m not your grade school teacher or your mother)

Using basic maths and logic (Two things I’m noticing you’re lacking here) you might notice that Final Fantasy XIV is outpacing World of Warcraft almost 2:1. This would mean that a lot of the defensive BS that you are talking is completely invalid and just the ramblings of a WoW obsessed little troll who doesn’t understand the real world.

GOOD DAY SIR!
