Activision-Blizzard Swung and missed

Join your server’s Discord for your local feed of guild drama, cross-faction name calling and salty pvp tears.

It’s the first time since Cata that I can recognize names of people outside my guild or even on the opposing faction. Hell, my server feels more alive than it did in Vanilla, TBC or WotLK and it’s one of the smaller PvP servers.

Over-population doesn’t hinder community. Only people do. How you perceive the value of a guild in response to the population is an opinion, your opinion. Finally, CRBGs do not kill community. Nor do they kill rivalries or drama.

If you hinged everything for a community around realm only BGs, you were doomed from the beginning. Furthermore, rivalries need not be based solely on pvp, nor drama. For those that are, if they were truly worthwhile and important, then the people involved would endeavor to keep the spirit alive regardless of BGs being cross-realm.

TL;DR

I like to whine like a lot of people on the forums. The number of people who make up about 1% of the playerbase.

I can say the same thing. Considering the people i play with think its great and a success. The people i play with and talk to in discord have 7 guilds total over 3 servers both na/eu both horde and alliance and growing.

For every person who cries and whines on here, you have 100 more playing the game and having fun

Lol what a clueless joke, players made communities not the game or any of its mechanics. People like you are blinded by nostalgia and have absolutely no clue.

I think you are right about what people wanted… feelings .

But I think you are wrong if you think any MMO could give them those feelings. You are 15 years older. Haven’t you changed at all? Many of us have played MMOs for those 15 more years.

No human is just as excited their 15th year as their first year. It isn’t human nature. How many marriages or jobs are just as exciting in year 15? How many people don’t change in 15 years?

Flaws that were minor in year 1 are intolerable in year 15 – the same game flaws, but the players have changed.

Blizzard cannot turn you into “who you were in 2005”, and Blizzard can’t do it for a million other players either.

Blizzard hasn’t earned a sub from me for TBC. The only reason i am even still playing, is because I like my guild. They have messed up this game at every turn, and batching, in its current form, pisses me off multiple times each and every day.

Blizzard can not give you that, that’s a player/people thing.
You either find those kind of people, and play with them or it’s not happening (and they probably going to be old people)

That is part of 2004 you can not get back with C++

No thanks, because i guarantee you wont send someone to speak for me with out getting it absolutely wrong.

Probably not, but what you all would probably have in common is not following classic development, because we pretty much knew all the info
on what classic was before it even released for play.

While some would agree, and while i dont disagree with you here, i get the feeling that most of the people doing the rank grind could care less as long as they can meet their honor per hour metric.

They created classic from WoW patch 1.12.2
It was they only version of vanilla wow that they had in complete both sourcecode for client and host, and full data.

They made this known quite a bit, it was no secret at all.

If that was not what you wanted, that is ok, but that is what we were getting.
If it was a matter of having to redevelop some other version from scratch
via patch notes and and old 3rd party data etc then there was going to be no classic at all.
The were not going to go and put together a full standard dev team to re-release vanilla WoW, not good business sense if nothing else.
They would have to charge, per copy, for it.
Having people rebuy a 15 year old MMO that they already bought once (which is assembled from mass amounts of guesswork) is not a real winning business strategy.

They did it correct for the version that they had.
It was that or nothing at all.

Reads to me “I’m just a follower” “I have no courage to have an opinion that is different than the fake majority in these forums”

I like Classic. Its EXACTLY like it was, as I remember it. The parts I don’t like, I avoid.
If I get tired of it or when Classic progresses to Cata, Ill just unsubscribe again.

The community was always going to be different. It is a different generation. Xrealm bgs didnt help.

You think you do but you don’t.

Blizzard gave the most accurate version of Vanilla 1.12 with the only changes being server populations and layers. Everything else is a true Vanilla experience. The problem is the community expectations of it somehow being the same as 15 years ago.

Plenty of fun times on Mankrik with my guild. Maybe you just chose the wrong people to hang out with?

I still get it. Was out questing, had plenty of folks willing to through out buffs, throw out party invites, and have seen dozens of folks trying to be a part of the community.

What I’ve also seen is a lot of folks who aren’t even trying to be a part of the community and complaining there is none.

I find these folks are a part of the problem on why they don’t feel like there is a community in Classic.

I am having a great time. I can’t speak for other servers, but mine has a great community and there is a ton of interesting things to tap into.

Literally the only bad part of all of classic for me was the 1.12 itemization making early content even easier that it already was, and the AV meta that forced us to play solo, instead of with friends if we wanted to rank. One I can live with and the other got fixed, so I am back to loving playing the game I waited 15 years to play.

Why are you questioning other players free choice?

This is why.

OP, don’t listen to the flamers. You are correct.

Is Classic decent? Sure.

Could it have been so much more? Absolutely. Activision dropped the ball in many ways. It really is a shame.

The Devs said from the beginning it would be 1.12. The game is true to the 1.12 patch. The Devs are not responsible for what your nostaliga expected. The game is the same, the players have changed.

So you acknowledge that we don’t share the same views but you still presume to speak on my behalf. Rude!

I 100% agree with you. If they removed cross server battlegrounds, it would fix everything wrong with the game. Doing pve, questing, and pvp with server friends is what defined vanilla for most of the people who wanted classic.

Yeah, 10 hour long WSG queues would fix everything wrong with the game.

lol
