Somewhere you have to pull the line.
I doubt they banned ppl who just left dead keys with not much progress (especially beyond 10) and a lot of deaths/dead timer, but rather ppl who leave on the first occasion they get like:
if the tank takes a path they dont like
if they wipe on a pack which should not -1 the key YET
perhaps ppl who leave just before the last boss because the timer has expired (so they deliberately make everyone’s last half hour a null void nothing, instead of making it worth at least (yes, even if not for themselves)
And more importantly ppl who make a habbit of these.
They either need to get rid of the depletion or making leaving a choice that has weight and makes you actually think it over before just doing it.
It isn’t that I’m ungrateful, but unless there is some way for PLAYERS to track this stat in game during the group formation then we’re going to be having this discussion again every season. As much as I like talking to y’all, I don’t want to put up with issues that stem solely from lack of readily available information in a game that actively tracks how many times my character has used the /dance emote.
Of course blizz doesn’t want to give griefers a map to exactly what they can do, but it’s still not a good experience for everyone else to have to wonder when they’ll cross the line. Even worse since they’re not even getting a warning for it prior to action being taken against their account.
While I’m all for applying penalties to those who leave with the intent to grief their key by lowering it to screw over other people or up and leave at the last boss when the run is going fine but at the same time, I dont think sending out suspensions for leaving is a good idea as it harms M+ pugging.
Inb4 someone calls me some serial leaver who likes to leave keys for sport and screw over other people, please read this, I do stick out for completion… if we can complete it reasonably that is, if a run is turning out to be a dumpster fire where no one interrupting, failing to do mechanics and sorta everything then its not the run that I wish to stay for, no amount of improvement is going to fix it, even if I have tried to do that… there will be people will simply do not want to listen and will try again only to fail again and again. If I consecutively get these dumpster fire runs like say 5 times in a row (for example), I will end up eating a punishment for leaving a run that after experiencing it, I do not want to be part of it.
I do think that doing this will harm M+ pugging because lets be honest, not everyone want to be in dumpster fire run where simply going for completion is not worth the time investment when the said group even though you try to provide some guidance, there will be some people that wont take advice and wipe +5 times on the first boss with little to no improvement on those pulls.
Also ever since Challenger’s peril got added where your death is equal to 3 people dying in +2-6s, you have people where they are less tolerant to avoidable stuff such as getting hit by a swirlie, some keys where a wipe happens is just straight up key breaker.
This is unrelated to your topic, but most of us noticed a correlation between DH players and chronic key leavers. And this thread is just DH players being mad about it lol.
Leavers have already harmed M+ enough, its time for them to be punished accordingly. Oh and for people still thinking they will just magically play bad to ruin keys instead, when you get reported for trolling remember blizzard can see all those KSM achievements you made in the past amongst other things so they will easily be able to tell you were trolling vs being actually bad
Basically the whole point is to beat the timer, so if it’s obvious it won’t be timed then people leaving is reasonable given the implied expectation of the content (…see: the big timer on the screen)
Overtime basically same thing as dead given most player’s goals (moving “up”, getting io, not spending excessive time in a wipefest run, etc)
Now, if you could just turn mythic plus back into heroic and make mythic a simple challenge mode again that would be great. Having three different tiers really seems to have divided this community.
We like to see griefers get punished, no doubt about it. BUT, I find this move to be very problematic until we get some transparency as to how you guys are determining whether someone griefed or the player gave the key a fair shot and it was understandably determined by one more players that the key wasn’t time-able.
If a pug tank isn’t pressing their buttons and is getting stomped by basic trash pulls am I supposed to stick it out until someone leaves before me just to avoid getting a strike in your internal system. What if my key is a mix of premade and pugs and me and my premade are first to leave our own key to run it back on a lower difficulty?
Without some type of “vote to leave/disband” feature, I am very highly skeptical that the system you’ve put in place for these bans treats players fairly. How do we know that players who run more keys won’t be punished over players who run less keys? Those who run more keys will naturally have left more keys. What about edge cases?
As I said, we love seeing griefers get got but many players including myself will remain wary and skeptical of the precedent this move sets until we get some detailed transparency as to what parameters are in place to determine whether someone was griefing and what data is taken into account to come to these conclusions when suspending M+ players.
Beyond 10, its all about Score which you dont get for borked keys.
On 10 and below, its much more difficult. I leave if I see that we cant even pass the first boss (in the literal meaning) or if we collect enough deaths to make the timer already dead before it even started.
I dont leave if I see a chance for timing or if we already invested more time into it, than what I would win with leaving.
The only exception from this if I join a completion key, but I rarely do that if ever. If it was clearly communicated that its just for weekly, then fine, as long as the group is able to do it.
(you cant pass a 10 without interrupts, dps checks and heal checks or with a tank who cant tank; if we wipe enough times on the same thing, we must see if there was progress made or if we are just doing the same thing and expecting different results. )
