Actions Taken to Address Exploitative Gameplay

Did you actually read the post?

This comment would inicate there are ban waves and then there are separate smaller ban activities.

I do have a question though. I realise this was posted on the Classic forum, but were these bans only applied to Classic botting, or in retail as well? Because I stood outside Botanica this morning and watched group after group of obvious DH bots walking in and out of the instance. Since you say “World of Warcraft” rather than Classic, it makes me wonder if it’s both games.

If so, you certainly missed a few…

This is such an absurd distinction. There are dozens of automations that can be used “while at the keyboard” that objectively harm the game. I mean a guy who is automating 5 accounts in PVP to simultaneously fire at one target is “at the keyboard” but clearly cheating in an ethical sense and ruining other’s gameplay. He doesn’t get banned?

I’ll take splitting hairs for profit at $500 Alex.

No he is not cheating in any sense. Multiboxers are espressly permitted by Blizzard and the TOS.

More like suspended, Activision wouldn’t give up the $$ that comes from 74,000 accounts. Expect to see the same botters in 24-48 hours.

Sure, but they would be more impactful from someone who actually played classic and not just retail.

Any retail person can come in here, read around and attempt to understand what is going on in classic. But opinions from the actual players is what really matters.

Look, like I said, retail is alright and you’re entitled to your opinion on classic viewing it from a retail standpoint. But let the people who actually play classic discuss things. You don’t need to weigh in.

You need to learn what multiboxing is. Blizzard has stated multiboxing is fine too.

There is no automation. you press the same keys and they activate across all characters. It actually takes a lot of time to set up and you have to macro like hell.

Try it and see.

Back in vanilla WoW, we actually had GM’s ingame and some of them would actually leave GM island in Stranglethorn vale. They used to turn invisible and follow the bots and catch them in the act, then ban them on the spot. Blizzard has cut that service as it cost them money. Now they rely on players to report people instead and they let the bots run unchecked for months on end.

Welcome actions. The instance cap is wonderful.

um so the botter is just going to go “damn Im banned thats the end of that then” they will renew and start again so Blizzard has lost nothing and get to keep their $1.5 billion profit.

You got some great opinions, are you sure that you do not work for Blizzard?

Not gonna pin the horrible changes you made to instance caps, but you pin this? I see you, Blizzard.

Ban those Chinese gold seller GDKP runs, that’s how u fix the bot. Farm gold is part of the game, not buying the gold.
How to ban them? see the gold flow, so easy.

Funny. Bots and farmers find a way to exploit the game. Blizz decides to do something about it and does something that could hurt people who play in the community.
Reduce the number of dungeons you can run in a day? All that does it make the bots and farmers create more accounts. Once this happens the only people who this effects are people who play the game in a way following the terms of service.

Make it more expensive. Ban the IP address. That makes it more expensive.

You made me laugh, in China they are banning 100k+ botters a week. Those botters are hitting EU and NA servers. And blizz took months to ban 74k. Blizz sucks.

I locked my main account out of instances yesterday after 6 hours of farming, couldn’t go to my guild zg later. Thanks blizzard you daft bastards. Should I cancel all three accounts and go play a game with less restrictions? Or perhaps at least a dev team who implements sound and reasonable bot deterrents? Not player deterrents? Thanks…

Short answer? yes.

6 hours of farming? Seriously dude?

If you need more than 30 instances in a 24 hour period EVERY DAY you have problems.

Go get help.

I don’t accept that answer sorry. If you think six hours is a long time to farm then apparently you’ve never went for a hoj or a sgc. What if you wanted to farm felstrikers or Ironfoe? I know one of my rogue friends who has well over 600 rend runs. Hasn’t even seen it. Runs multiple instances of ubrs a day. With this implementation we are in danger of losing one of our best rogues while he is farming for something he wants. We could lose him for our group content. I don’t think its fair to ask him to count every lil lock out through the day to make sure he can come hang out with his friends.

Congrats on missing my point I guess.
