Actionable idea to increase Population for phase 4

This is an idea I’ve had for a while. One of the things keeping people away from SoD these days is the levelling being a big barrier of enrtry. It feels like it is “too late to start”. So my idea is this.

Allow people to clone their classic era characters to SoD, but without their gear and post-60 reputations reset, and limited to ~50g per character.

Pros:

  1. Will attract era players without them needing to relevel (or relevel too much, a level 40 character cloned would still be level 40)

  2. Due to the huge numbers increase of Runes, it could feel like going into a new expansion for the decked out era characters (and their era gear being gone would feel similar to raid gear being made irrelevant by a new expansion)

  3. Might bring back some players who unsubbed after their era character got all of their bis

Cons:

  1. The incoming players might be upset about the gdkp ban, as it is a big part of era afaik

  2. The incoming players miss out on experiencing BFD and Gnomer, and maybe even ST to an extent

  3. It may feel bad starting with no gear (maybe a character boost-style gear set could be created for the cloned characters.

What do you guys think?

lol :expressionless: more “skip all the grinds and come play” nonsense. how about make a good version of WoW so people don’t mind the grind.

They already have several versions of the games with level boosts since it seems you’re interested in that style of gameplay!

No it won’t.

Those playing Era actively hate anything ‘not Vanilla’. Like, my gods 'n Christ, you should have seen their reaction to the change to the PVP gear that removed class restrictions. …total meltdown. About how it would rune the meta; how it was “retailification”.

Then there was the meltdown with the PVP System overhaul.

Oh, and the meltdown about the four extra inventory slots for having the Authenticator.

…and the meltdown over the water not being ‘like it was’.
…and the new ground clutter effect.
…and the ‘not Vanilla’ API.
…and the ‘not Vanilla’ client.

its almost like its a temporary season of wow. Shocked Pikachu face

It would not, IMO. Anyone playing Era is doing so because SoD isn’t what they’re looking for.

They’re also not scared of leveling. Most actually enjoy it.

era players are open to minor changes :expressionless: SoD is not minor changes. it’s a whole new game, and it stinks.

temporary season =/= remove all grinds :expressionless:

Wow it’s almost like Classic is supposed to be the game as it was without the crap stained fingers of modern Blizzard all over it.

Almost like they should have made no changes as promised. The mantra is “no changes”, not “little changes”.

Almost as if all those complaints about the completely unnecessary changes are completely valid.

It isn’t any more temporary than any other expansion. They’re on the same timeframe. Stop with this nonsense excuse please.

do you think they are going to SoD TBC? this is temporary and if your trying to deny that you are a clown.

Irrelevant. The game is live right now and will be live for as long as any given expansion. It doesn’t matter where the characters go after the season is finished, just as it doesn’t matter where they go after an expansion.

SoD grinds, levels, and gear are relevant for as long as that of any given expansion. No boosting is necessary — in fact, boosting and grind skipping is why SoD is dead right now.

Every expansion/season/version is just as temporary, numbnuts.

expansions last for 2 years were not even a year into sod and we are heading to lvl 60 and they are planning on doing an increased rate of content releases at 60 we wont even make it to a year before this season is over.

Sod will be live for another 8 months at least.

sure… but you keep your collections/gear/achieves into the next expac. SoD items will literally go poof

at first they hinted at some kind of SoD era server, but nowadays that’s looking like a waste of time and resources lol :expressionless:

This is Classic buddy, those don’t exist.

They’ve literally said SoD characters go somewhere.

Also where does your Gressil go after Vanilla ends? Oh yeah, right into a Vendor’s pocket.

well i have a toy from st and gear on my person so id say your kinda a moron and they do exist

Thanks for the laughs I guess

It’s too bad you can’t boost an education, eh?

thanks for not being able to refute my point
