Action Bars Resetting When Switching Specs – Any Solutions? I need Help!

I’m facing a problem that’s making me consider quitting WoW. I play as a druid, and I love the versatility of playing as a melee/range DPS, Tank, and Healer, and that’s exactly what I do.

The problem occurs between the Feral and Guardian specializations.

When I finish organizing my action bars with macros and abilities in one specialization, switching to the other leaves the action bars the same as the previous spec. If I reorganize the bars for the new spec, when I switch back, the bars still have the setup of the last spec I organized. This makes it impossible to play, especially when entering instances, as I don’t have time to reorganize my action bars every time I switch specs.

I’ve tried everything: uninstalled all addons, used Bartender, reinstalled WoW, but nothing has worked. Can anyone please help me or off

I followed all the instructions provided, including resetting the interface, and the issue still persists. I’m extremely frustrated with the lack of attention to this problem, especially since the thread was marked as “solved” despite multiple users, including myself, still experiencing the issue. This makes the game almost unplayable. I expect Blizzard to take this seriously and provide a real solution, as it is impossible to have a reasonable gameplay experience in this state.

With my Priest, I’m facing the same issue.

If I switch between specs, my actions bars are overwritten or deleted. It tries to put the Shadow Spells onto my Discipline Priest’s action bars or vice versa.

No addons. Followed instructions for “Resetting User Interface” as recommended by support. Did the /console cvar_default. Issue is still present. Currently, unable to swap specs without the game deleting my bars.

For some reason, this is only affecting my Priest and not my Shaman.

Same issue happening to me as of yesterday. Druid as well.

The Blizz response to my ticket was so generic that it was laughable they even sent it. Basically sent me a link to the generic troubleshooting page where they suggest you try everything we have all tried - uninstall addons, uninstall wow, blah, blah, blah.

In other words, they aren’t even acknowledging this is an issue despite me being able to find posts about it all the way back in 2022.

GG.

Delete and recreate any talent loadouts and disable shared acrion bars would be the only suggestion I can give.

I found a solution from a few years back on Reddit that I’m going to try when I get home, but it actually recommends to recreate your loadouts and ENABLE the shared action bar option. I’m not even sure how that works, but I guess I’ll give it a try this evening.

Just frustrating that Blizzard can’t even acknowledge that it’s an issue, and their customers are forced to come up with creative solutions amongst themselves.

Doesnt seem to be a super widespread issue, so it’s probably something they aren’t able to replicate internally.

I ran into this on and off for a decent part of Dragonflight. I never found a solution. Even reinstalling the game and using no addons was no help.

The most effective option for me was to only play one spec and not switch talents. It was far from ideal, but there did not appear to be any helpful information on how to fix it.

Was it on your mage? Initially, I thought it was related to druids specifically, because those were the only people saying they were having the same issue, but then there was a paladin, and now I’m convinced it’s just any hybrid class that switches specs frequently. It’s literally the primary reason I play my druid, so definitely sucks.

My latest response from Blizz was to reach out to a local tech support or the ‘in-game community.’

It was on my mage. It was most noticed when I would add or remove Glacial Spike, and in the process I would move a few abilities around. The keys would be reset to what they had been upon my teleporting to a new zone.

Even something as simple as switching a regular flying mount and a DF mount for my flying hotkey would be reset upon zoning. Sometimes if I zoned a few times in a row, only stopping long enough to redo the hotkeys, would it seem to finally save them how I wanted them.

I did not see this behavior happen on my warlock. I cannot comment on other classes since I retired my druid and priest.

Someone, in another thread, speculated it might be due to people forcing the WoW client closed rather than properly camping out. I can rule that out for myself.

I gave up on reporting it after months had passed with no fix or mention of it.

Edit: I should add this continued to occurr even after uninstalling WoW and the Battle.net client, starting with fresh installs of both and not installing any addons or addon managers.

This worked deleted and remade same loadout even tho they had shared action bar disabled just still delete and remake for all talents and loadout, not fun to do but it worked.
