Im truly worried if this is the case. They had a cult following in the beginning and now they are just selling out for these company-daming mobile games…i miss the old blizzard with scary, dark, mysterious, and gory games. I miss how it was so cut and dry dark like diablo 2 where it wasnt joking around, the devil was coming to take over the world and you had to stop him. Same in starcraft and same in warcraft. They knew how to balance themselves to make references to and pay homage to games and books of old in the adventurous genre like lord of the rings and monty python and the holy grail.
I think blizzard should go back to their roots and appeal more towards their old cult following not change towards mobile gaming…

Blizzard is going to do what the shareholders want them to do.
It just isn’t the company you’re talking about anymore. Check out the indie developer scene. There’s a lot of good stuff there.

Companies that don’t innovate and stay relevant with consumer demand, die! simple as that!

I am sure they will put out some mobile games, but I highly doubt they will abandon the PC market.

The world changed and the company is changing with it. Adapt and evolve. Successful companies do this.

They need to obtain new blood for their future, the current market are obsessed with their phones so they are going where the market is. They will not abandon PC or their PC fan base but they will try to expand. The only thing they need to learn is that consistent growth is never possible and should educate their share holders appropriately.

That reminds me. Need to launch my Epic Game launcher and get my free game haha
Enjoy. I refuse to touch that thing with a 10 foot pole. lmao
I would rather support studios and developers like cd red projekt , Square Enix , Ubisoft rather then ea ,activision blizzard , Bethesda .

As much as you don’t like it, mobile gaming is a treasure chest of money just waiting to be taken from peoples wallets. How much money did King make with Candy Crush? Rovio with Angry Birds?
My wife spent $12 last week on a game she likes to play, and when I called her out on it she said no she didn’t. She did not believe me until I showed her the online bank statement. She said she did not even realize she had done it. So regardless of if we like it or not as gamers, there is a metric ton of money to be made there. Why would they not want to dedicate resources and cash in as much as they can, while they can?
It does not mean they will abandon the PC market, by any means. But not shifting their business model is leaving a boatload of cash on the table, and frankly, even though I don’t like it, irresponsible to their shareholders.
Going back to their roots is a surefire way to get left behind, even in these nostalgia-driven times.
No one builds PCs anymore. Us older farts are the ones clinging to consoles and PCs and we’re outnumbered by a wide margin by kids with iPads and cellphones.
No matter how much we hate it, the mobile market is an upcoming market. It’s more so a cashgrab at the moment and will continue to be, until consumers start putting some forethought into their user experience.
Acti-Blizzard is smart for doing it, but they’re wrong for how they’re going about it.

This isnt an ActiBlizz issue. They’re gonna go where the money is, just like any smart corporation.

Ugh lol youre right. I just built a pc (ITS SO MUCH FUN) and i think pcs have more power for virtual reality and games that require high quality graphics cards, but yea the industry is changing away from pcs and it just makes me feel so forlorn
It’s recognizing a market exists. They’re a big enough company to create projects for more than one platform. It’s not like the old days when they did one game at a time. They now run a whole bunch of them and have the capacity to develop additional projects.
They’re also partnering with outside companies for development on mobile. It’s an extension of their intellectual property lines. Not an abandonment of one for another.

CD project red, sure but the rest of them are just more big companies. Not as big, but still.
Also, yeah… hate to say it but I never buy Betheada games anymore.
Except TES6. I’ll buy the heck out of that because I love the world and lore of it too much not to.
Same with Blizzard and warcraft.
I am thinking about starting up a mobile gaming market. Gonna start with just one game though… I was thinking something along the lines of “Some-what peeved walruses”.
The main idea would be to launch them at unsuspecting fish in various ice houses.
