Achievements?

Dude you understand that today, achievements are account wide now right? So any achievement any of your characters have now you’re old guy is going to have. Let me guess, your old character from 2007 also has wotlk, cata, and whatever else expansion you played’s achievements too right? 🤦

I can 100% confirm that you are wrong here, just as Rorshak is doing. Rorshak and I are specifically talking about when the Achievement system first released. We’re not talking about modern day functionality.

When Achievements were introduced in the Wrath prepatch, you were not retroactively given raid/dungeon credit unless you had a piece of gear from the last boss in your bags. I remember running around doing oldschool dungeons for credit, although I had run them many times on many alts.

So you’re making statements about how the Achievement system works NOW, not how it was implemented. You either don’t understand the difference or you’re just ignorantly making stuff up.

You are 100% right but I’ll also elaborate a bit and say this with quest turn ins and titles as well.

For example, if you turned in the quest for old onys head in the past, you didn’t need any items from her in your bags to get the achievement. If you had hand of adal title, or if you had the karazhan key, you got all the dungeons and raids completed for having these things done.

Good point.

and store mounts
and pandas
and demon hunters
and Panda Demon hunters!
those could allow for people to do something once they finish raiding

Achievements don’t impact game play as long as they make them private and not publically viewable. I don’t see why not. Keeps the longevity of the game.

So none of that “LFM, please link X achievement” garbage?

Lol. The few months of retail back when they had the houses was definitely a learning experience.

I always thought it was just some Urban Legend. I guess not, if you are talking about it too, it was a real thing, huh?

Yeah it was.

Sounds like it was a cluster then huh?

Don’t know. I sat in my freaking house the entire time all by myself clicking popups when i wanted to do dungeons. Occasionally I’d be transported to town when i was done with rbgs.

When Achievements came out I was in the same situation. Not everything was there. Only had about half the TBC heroic achievements and I was missing alot of the Classic ones as well. Like I had never compleated Deadmines. WTF.

Yeah I hate saying this but I just don’t think this guy played back then tbh or he was really really behind.

I remember everyone was talking about how they missed a lot of achievements the day they came out lol. This might sound weird to some people who didn’t play but yeah when achievements came out they were THE THING to do. You logged in, read through every single achievement you could have earned, and a ton of people just started running random low level dungeons or raids or just running around doing random stuff just to see the achievement pop up on your screen lol.

I remember people were just randomly dying in shat left and right because they wanted the “going down” or whatever it was called achievement where you survived a fall of a certain height, so they got on their flyer and just took a free dive lol.

achievements dont take from the game though i would like to add it would be good if they also had achievements that had on going counters like

examples
fell off aldor terrace and died X times
survived X time in ocean (the deep places that give fatigue)

Weird stuff like this is good and does not mess with the version of the game and its core systems.

To be fair…CERTAIN Achievements do award Titles and Mounts. Not that I don’t mind it. It’s just a alternate way of getting Titles and/or Mounts.

We would have to remove the mounts from achievements. Maybe leave titles. but have to be looked on a case by case basis.
