It’s been a great 15 years…but even after the Cat revamps, I am getting kind of bored with Bovi’s dusty old Mulgore Login.
And a lot of the other ones for that matter.
Which leads me to a suggestion:
Make the SELFIE cam relevant for explorers to unlock new login backgrounds from exotic locales.
My Tauren Paladin would look great standing in Uther’s Tomb, for instance.
Maybe my undead peers want to login triumphantly with the smoldering remains of Teladrassil for their background.
The crystal caves of deepholm
the red groves of suramar…
You get the idea. explore around, take a selfie, unlock an achievement that gives you a new login background.
Thats my suggestion.

I approve wholeheartedly.
My hair has more pixels than my login screen. I get jealous every time I mouse over my AR characters…

Lets not do this, lets not encourage Blizzard to add any other wasted resources into garbage like this until they get on a steady roll of dishing out quality content.

Personally I would like it if it showcased wherever I had last logged out at. Like Boralus harbor or Stormwind.

Dude, its already in the game, and not going away. All this does is tie in its usage with…you know, rewards people might actually want, unlike the selfie cam itself
I like the idea of unlocking Log In backgrounds. That would be neat to work towards, and feel very rewarding - even if only you can see it.
But the Selfie cam can stay out of it. Just make it quest or achieve based rewards.

Last month I made a suggestion about acquiring mount equipment in game that gave flying to non-flying mounts.

yeah keep the selfie cam out of it. i dont even have one cuz i ignored it during WoD, im glad that i dont think its even available anymore. i even deleted the bomb a dozen times instead of learning it.

I’d prefer to change the log in screen. I still miss the WotLK one with the dragon flying down. I used to race to type in my password before he would roar.
I really hated how the Cata revamp changed most of the racial backgrounds from 3D geometry to 2D facades with 3D doodads. It’s ironically made them age worse than the backgrounds they replaced.
As an example, here’s the original human char select background. The lighting and composition aren’t great, but the whole scene is nice and sharp, just like the character model.
Here’s the current human char select background. Composition and lighting are way better, but Stormwind looks like a blurry, stretched out, badly compressed screenshot compared to the razor sharp character.
When/if they get around to revamping these background again, they should really revert to the older method that uses 3D geometry.

I agree with this. I believe I read a similar thread to this a while back before ever logging into the forums, and it got shut down when people began arguing about whether or not additional login screen backgrounds were a waste of resources.
I should note something I learned from that thread is that the backgrounds are 3D models too and not just images, so it does take a bit of effort/resources to implement them.
I would really like to see some options, however they choose to introduce it, as the goblin background is awful. It’s the island area they level in at the start, and like yeah I guess that makes sense, but why can’t I have it be kezan? It looks so out of place to me. Even if there was only a few new ones I would be pretty happy.

I’d like it if you could set your login screen to any expansion you bought a collectors edition for. It’d give people extra incentive to buy CE’s and I really really miss the old WOTLK frosty login screen… BFA’s is boring and out of date since nobody in lore even cares that undercity got blighted… so why is it on the login screen?
