I keep killing the blobs accidently with the breath (have tried on 7 toons last week)…50k gold that gets me the achieve unless I get it before hand

do you have a monk? I think you can do it afk as a monk.

I did it as a druid not long ago. Using travel form you can stay ahead of your train of blobs then quick turn around when you reach the magic number. And of course you can decurse yourself using Remove Corruption to keep from accidentally killing them too early.
