Mounts and transmogs are account wide, why not profession recipes as well?
Because that would get rid of the risk of unlearning the profession. That’s why. Someone like me who has multiple alts could just have two toons for every profession and then unlearn and learn a new one on their mains for monetary gain without fear of losing rare / hard to obtain recipes.
Could make it so that if you no longer have a char with that prof & high enough skill it’ll remove it from your collection. Though if you have 2 chars with the same prof, if one learns it the other learns it also. Just for recipes learned from scrolls, not from prof trainers.
It’s not hard to max a profession out in any of the expansions. Especially since they are all like 75, 150, 175 now and not 300. If you think the main professions are Alchemy, Blacksmithing, Cooking, Enchanting, Inscription, Leatherworking, and Tailoring then you only need 14 characters to have that profession. Then you need 2 gatherers. So 16 all together. I think the server limit now is 50 characters. Its more than feasible to get 16 characters to max level in all expansions of a profession and then when you learn the the recipe your other toons get it as well. Completely diminishing the significance of unlearning a profession.
Does unlearning a profession supposed to have significance, other than you can no longer make those items until you relearn it.
Yes, some recipes are hard to obtain or you can actually never obtain them again because the monster no longer drops it. But if that carries over account wide then whats going to stop people from unlearning it on their main and learning a more profitable one? I mean account wide professions sound good in theory but in reality they are not hard to learn and level. And if you want to keep the recipes that take hours or weeks of farming then don’t unlearn it.
So what if they do?
Why not be like heritage armor, where you could delete all chars of that class, but your account still has it.
