Account wide mmr

Is account wide mmr a thing yet.

Because I’ve noticed a lot of very high rated players going on their 1600 alts in shuffle once queues dry up at their actual rating.

Or because they get high rating and don’t want to risk losing it so they also then just alt hop and Smurf at 1600 for that reason.

So I think it’s pretty cringe to have multi r1s smurfing at 1600 squishing players far less experienced than them just for content yeah?

What you can do is have your average mmr of all your alts combined will be your account wide mmr for all characters on your account. So you can bg for your gear and then head straight into the rating where you belong after. :+1:

This could be the whale-krill dynamic asmongold talks about. The whales die when there is no krill to eat.

No, the current system is already sufficiently quick in moving people to where they need to be.

They win two lobbies in a row and shoot up 500 mmr.

Completely outside the realm of possibility.

Is it?

If you are 2600 on your main 2300 on your 1st alt 2000 on your 2nd and maybe 1900 on your 3rd you had a bad session you should probably average out to at least 2k or 2100 yeah?

Me, a 2900 disc healer, am totally a 2900 fire mage (I have never played mage before)

account wide mmr would be the worst arena change in history.

Yeah, because as I said the current system already solves this by quickly moving people to where they win roughly half of their games. If somebody is lower than you think they should be then they’re either in one of their handful of games before they rocket out of the depths or are down there for a reason.

This is without even touching on teammates or alts which probably isn’t worth doing so if we’re just ranting about not being able to win games.

account wide mmr would be when this game is truly in the gutter a spec ive played for 4+ years i can definitely play sum other spec to the same level

I think general game knowledge and knowing the fundamentals is far more important than class specific knowledge.

So if you have that and the people you are playing at 1600 don’t then you don’t need to be there.

That’s why somebody like pikaboo can pick up any class in the game and play it to 1800 or 2k. Because he has mastered the basics.

Players slide to where they’ll win half of their games.

big diffrence is this man plays the game for a living and is a multi blizzcon champ and has the time to learn to play everything at max level the rest of us have lives and don’t play every class to rank 1 level

making me play warrior at 2600-2700 mmr thats fine i have years of exp on that but I go to play a alt and learn a new class like mage now im at 2700 throwing games and tanking my mains mmr that system would be horrid and force you to not have alts. If you don’t want to risk tanking your mains mmr aswell.

Counter point, if you don’t have general game knowledge and fundamentals down then you deserve to get absolutely crushed in rated pvp environments.

Back in the day you’d get 1v2d being that unaware. Game so diff now it’s let people think it’s unfair to fight a high rated opponent once.

Well, yeah. It’d render alts immediately unplayable. Lock it to a single class and you’d still have the comp/gear/teammate issue. This is just somebody frustrated with losing and throwing out a “game is busted here’s how to fix it” to feel better.

What do you think if they added a highly advanced bot that you could put on any class to practice against.

And you could scale its difficulty that way you can practice against it and learn until you think you know enough to go into rated.

Every other game has something like this I believe.

wouldn’t be like the real thing bot can be super advanced but experience against actual people is much better also doesn’t change that account wide mmr would basically kill alts and would be a bad thing for arena in general.

I already play every class I don’t need my highest alts and main’s mmr tanked if i lose a match on another alt while farming out elite sets or learning a new spec.

This happens with SSBU where i am a fairly good Cloud player and awful at anyone else and get stomped trying to learn anyone else.

While I dont disagree ‘smurfing’ is an issue, its an issue in a lot of games and I’m not really sure its even solvable in wow. Not without overhauling the current system and I’m sure whatever they do will just end up hurting another fraction of players. Maybe there are good solutions im not sure but it seems difficult to solve

No.

my 10 alt druids will be a bane to the 1800 2s bracket and theres nothing u can do to stop me

And why not.

they need to do spec, or at least role specific mmr, sometimes i wanna try dps without wrecking my healer mmr/cr

yea this just doesn’t make sense, and discourages alts to an extreme degree

just because someone is a glad hunter does not mean they are a glad mage
