Account wide is not account wide

features listed as account wide are supposed to be battle net account wide, however, if you start a wow account on another region - for me was Europe when all my previous play was Americas - all my mounts, toys, titles, etc. were not there on Europe. Additionally there is no way to specify a European realm in mail to mail from Americas realm character a BoA item. By my thoughts a couple of fairly simple options would make BoA truly account wide:

(1) have a common database that all regions point to for access to Battle net account data as in cloud based database. This method appears to solve many problems that could arise from changes in one region and affect the item(s) in all regions for that character that made a change. Also this change would be fairly trivial as each regions database would get copied to the cloud based database then change the program to point to cloud copy of the database rather than its original local database.

(2) run a simple background process that syncs the different region databases, I could see this to require that you have a battle tag set for your account, but would need to cross apply any upgrades to level cap of heirlooms and such changes as could happen in different regions.

To me, it appears to be important that what you call account wide is truly account wide, otherwise “account wide” is just a lie.

the mail issue would require the addition of a tag in the mail to line something like mail to line: region:character-realm defaulting to your current region if not specified.

Right? And a double-wide is not a double-wide cause mama takes up the whole trailer.

While this issue does not effect me in any way shape or form, I find myself in agreement with your complaint.

With that said, I do wonder how viable your proposed solution is. Database syncs can take quite some time depending on size, and I can only imagine how large WoW region databases are which would require additional resources and bandwidth to handle the new load on a service that may very well not be used often.

Becuase the original account was on NA servers and now that you are using EU servers it is a new account.

It’s like the NA/Eu forums just because you can say something here doesn’t mean you can on the EU forums. You need a EU account to post on theirs and if you were to your post count from here would not transfer over there.

So to make it simple NA and EU accounts are considered separate accounts.

different regions have different laws covering aspects of the game which is why they are separate. Many things are region locked for this reason like tokens, and battle net balance.

Not quite, I can log into the EU forums for example with my USA made BNET account, so they aren’t as separated as you make them out to be. I can’t POST on the EU forums because I don’t have a lvl 10 character over there, but I sure can log in with my normal bnet id/pass.

While you can have a NA and EU license (game account) under the same battlenet, the two regions are entirely separate as far as any gameplay stuff is concerned. There is no connection between them, so no mail, no account wide stuff (mounts, toys, etc), and so on.

Oh please this is complete ********

Europe is not a country, it’s a continent composed of different countries with contrasting laws regarding videogames. And yet we do get all our mounts and stuff regardless of whether we pay from France, Spain or Russia.

The sole reason they’re not willing to merge EU with NA is :moneybag:

Thanks that was what I was trying to say but better explained and more simply too .

You are talking about the forums though not the game.

I don’t think it is. This issue comes up every so often and I am pretty sure a blue post actually explained it like this once.

Only tried forums because at work and can only try forums.

But you are arguing a semantic here. My point is the account can log in and do things across regions, so there is a database connection somewhere that in fact works. Thus I agree with the OP, account wide is account wide. If you had to make a new account with it’s own separate login ID/password/Email, then the OPs complaint would hold no water. That is not however, the case. There is def some linkage going on.

Honestly I think wording that is more accurate is that items are region wide, not account wide. Not sure why Blizz says account wide when there is these gotcha’s. They are def region wide though.

I don’t think I am.

In any case, this has been discussed numerous times and blizzard has said no not possible so I suspect they do know what they want to do in this situation.

This game is built on old technology. The cloud didnt exist when it launched.

We really need this to be TRULY account bound. All the mounts I have to say bye-bye to because I changed from EU to NA makes my completist heart hurt. :sob:

The thing I am most sad about is my Mage’s Tower appearances and the limited time mounts that I just can’t get ever again. I worked so hard for this and it’s just unfair that the “account- bound” things aren’t really that at all.
