Account-Wide Currency

When will this ever be implemented? With so many currencies getting added each patch, this needs to happen. I played the characters and I don’t think we should have to redo the same content on alts just to get the same currency we already have. My main is currently sitting on over 200 Crests of various values that have no purpose, yet I have plenty of alts that could use the gear upgrade. That is time wasted.

If overgearing alts is a concern, then for current content place a limit on how much currency alts that didn’t earn it themselves can use, but it still needs to be more than what we have now.

This should also be packaged with Account-Wide Reputation as well.

no thanks. I like to have a reason to play my alts.

This ends the fun of leveling, earning and gearing. Short cuts suck.

If they could just offer us the ability to change classes on one character, then everyone gets what they say they want.

Yes please…

Except it isn’t fun to have to do this over and over again?

You are still earning the credit. If currencies were account wide you wouldn’t have to do the same work again.

I want to do three things on alts:

1.) Level (via questing and/or dungeons)

2.) Gear-up quickly at level cap (relative to however long it took my main, via catch-up gear)

3.) Experience endgame in different ways with different roles

What I don’t want to do on alts:

1.) Any kind of content unlock

2.) Separate achievements

3.) Collect anything that isn’t class or race-specific

4.) Questing beyond leveling

5.) Professions (this is a new situation as of this expansion–I no longer have time or inclination to touch crafting on alts–the new system cured me of that)

Solution:

Nearly everything at this point in Retail should be account-wide, save a few specific things for different characters. This would include:

1.) Leveling and quest completion (but with an option like Threads of Fate to auto-complete all quests at level cap, except class-specific ones if not completed on another character of the same class–think class hall stuff).

2.) Gear (because gearing-up alts, like leveling, is part of the experience of playing a different class or role)

3.) Professions–probably, although not with the Dragonflight professions system. As it stands right now, I’d rather have account-wide professions or just to forget about them as a whole, but that’s more of a DF profession time-gating issue. Although personally I’d be happy with account-wide professions, I realize this could be controversial and many prefer different alts for professions.

The problem with account wide currencies aren’t alts. It’s mains. If currencies were account wide you could, and would be expected, to funnel currencies from your alts to your main.

Of course there are a couple of ways to fix this issue. Like having a weekly upgrade cap per character. But that feels less “organic” than just limiting how much currency you can get in the first place.

This is such a bad idea. It’s probably one of the worst features of FF14, but at least there you have some slightly easier ways of grinding out new jobs.

WoW would have to be really overhauled to make that viable.

People complain about having no bag space now, wait until they have to carry all those gear sets for every job.

You don’t have to level everything. It actually wouldn’t be that difficult even, since we have the perfect blueprint already. I imagine some mobile banking solution might be needed to smooth it out, or slightly bigger bags, but really it solves every problem people have brought up, allowing you to try new classes without losing out on rep and currency.

It’s a perfect solution.

I agree, even in my OP I mentioned how you can gate the gear if that is concern or make it so gear related currencies aren’t account wide for the patch they are current in. There are so many ways to go about it.

You just best described a lot of my thoughts on how I approach playing alts.

Thing is, I say FINE. The people who would do this, LET THEM DO IT. From the perspective of the average person, no one is going to be using an ALT to farm something a main can farm faster and better.

There’s just got to be a limit on the argument of “people will burn themselves out because they have to run something on 80 levels to keep trying for thing XYZ!!” There comes a point people have to decide they are adults and be responsible. If they’re not adults, the adults in their lives should be teaching them how to police that sort of behavior so when they ARE adults, they know how to deal with urges of that sort.

it may not be fun to you but I enjoy leveling up my other characters and playing them - just don’t make alts if they aren’t fun to play for you.

I don’t want account wide currency, but I do want account-BOUND currency. Like when my main or high end alt gets too much but my other alt or freshly hit max level needs a whole lot more — I can ship off some over.

Because otherwise it’s usually feeling like my time is wasted or it’s this nightmarishly long impossible task for alts, or off-side main which just makes me want to quit the game to be honest.

Why deal with the middle-man solution of having account bound? When it could just be a shared storage between all characters.

Blizzard should prioritize player progression over individual character progression. Most people don’t just stick to a single class and it would be nice to not have all progression wiped when I want to play another class.
