My friend is 300 alch and he just went on vacation, is it against TOS for me to log on his toon and do his transmute arcanite or am I gonna get his account locked ?
Technically, yes.
Odds of him getting in trouble ? Next to none.
Yes, you will both get banned if they catch you.
Account sharing is bannable unless you are a parent allowing your child to use your account.
âselect a unique username and password (collectively referred to hereunder as âLogin Informationâ). You may not use your real name as the password for the Account, and you cannot share the Account or the Login Information with anyone, unless the terms of this Agreement allow it.â
âSubject to the laws of your country of residence, minor children may utilize an Account established by their parent or legal guardian. In the event that you permit your minor child or legal ward (collectively, your âChildâ) to use an Account on the Platform, you hereby agree to this Agreement on behalf of yourself and your Child, and you understand and agree that you will be responsible for all uses of the Account by your Child whether or not such uses were authorized by you.â
Iâll leave it up to you to determine whether the above applies to you.
Yes using another playerâs account is against TOS. Will you get caught and banned for it? Maybe, but probably not.
Used to use my friendâs account to run new chars through dungeons all the time in Vanilla. I wouldnât advise it though if your friend has a lot of nice stuff
My âlittle brotherâ got his account temporarily locked for suspicious activity.
People do it all the time, but it is a huge no-no.
We want to make a bank alt for our guild, but for ease of access, we want more than one member to have access to it.
Itâs a sticky wicket, and weâre still mulling over how to go about it.
Create an Android and put the account under his name
I understand the severe side of account sharing like paying for third party services but whatâs the big deal if you just log on the make something with a profession then log out?
Well⌠the big deal is that youâre compromising your account and then later your friend will complain to Blizzard about how his account was âhacked.â Which costs Blizzard time and money. They created the authenticator for free for a reason.
Also, itâs not fair to other players that do not share accounts. The biggest and most obvious flaw is that a guild could rotate a few accounts for raiding and have multiple members invest a little time in getting the accounts a bunch of max level characters with no downtime.
This has happened. Iâm not making it up.
Also, the intended playstyle is that if you want alchemy, level it yourself or use the auction house.
Well itâs a lot more dangerous now that you posted about it but how tf would blizzard ever know?
I log into my account from all over the place and diff ip addresses because I travel a lot for work.
Me and my wife also have chars on each otherâs accounts depending upon what pc or laptop we are using and switch regularly.
Iâm pretty sure that stuff is automated From IP address pinging around lobations , a GM doesnât watch accounts, how many employees would they need to personally watch accounts ?
Yes it is.
You can speculate, but the fact of the matter is, it is not allowed. That doesnât mean it WILL be enforced. But it CAN be enforced. Just donât be surprised if you try it and get caught.
My grandson went to Texas from Louisiana a few years back to visit his dad,he logged in on his laptop and his account was locked until we explained it to Blizzard.
Thereâs nothing sticky about it, itâs bannable and youâll get reported as soon as someone gets mad.
This is one of those ââJust do it and donât say anythingââ kind of things. Just delete the thread and if his account is locked due to suspicious activity then well, no more daily transmutes until he gets back. If it works the whole time, cool beans. Thereâs rules that arenât meant to be broken and then thereâs rules that everyone breaks but just keeps to themselves in life. Like a grey area of thou shalt not speak of, like taking power naps at work or whatever to make it through the day on that second wind. They know people do it, itâs just written down to cover themselves because if you do steal his account itâs on him and isnât their fault because they told you not to.
Itâs not going to work that way.If it gets locked, and he canât explain it or is unwilling to explain it it,his account will be banned. Itâs not worth the risk.
Well then itâs on him. Risky behavior for little reward. Really does not affect anyone, I view it as mostly blizzard protecting themselves, like when you put up wet floor sign even though everyone there sees you mopping.
Ok guys I got it . Itâs clearly not worth the risk
