I’m a returning player that stopped playing when TBC was released and I’m coming back to play Classic Fresh. This battle.net account has existed for over 10 years.
I’m having a hard time accepting that despite paying full price I’l be unable to use the Auction House or even mail items to my own alt characters (the second one would at least help with not having to vendor valuable items).
I played for 2 days and my bank is already of mats that a regular player would not just vendor.
Please at least lift this suspension for old accounts or accounts that have other games in it, or at least have some sort of manual process to remove it. It just makes no sense to punish new and returning player like this, anything playing with this limitation is going to have an extremely frustrating experience.
Does it make sense to suspect that an account that has existed for over 10 years, slowly leveling a warrior is a bot? This treatment is just unbelievable.

Have you tried putting in a ticket? Have you not played WoW on this account before?

I tried but the GM just canceled my subscription instead (delaying the restriction even more I guess). I’ll see if my old email has an account associated with it but it would probably fall into the restriction anyway since I quit in TBC. I also already paid for the sub again.
I think people that haven’t played with this restriction don’t understand the severe implications. Anyone that has a gathering profession will have all their slots occupied by level 10 and will have to start vendor valuable items.
Not being able to use the AH is bad enough but not being able to mailing items to your alts is brutal and will result in a very significant loss of gold.
How long is the restriction?
My GF started playin last month with me on ERA and she can’t trade anything or use the AH. Since fresh starts next week we were trying to see when that ended to see if she’s gonna be able to participate in the economy on day one or not. Supposedly, for classic its 26 days but we will see. On Monday we will see if she can actually trade things to me or not. If not she will have to wait until 2 days in to fresh to be able to trade and use AH.
A month of not being able to trade or use AH is crazy considering its not gonna stop the bots.

In other games, it can help because it reduces the amount of time that they can trade before they get batch-banned. I have a hard time believing Blizzard is banning any bots on Classic, though.
lol yeah if you report gold sellers in trade chat you get the notification saying they took action. Then you log on your bank alt and you can see the same bot spamming in trade. The notifications are just to make people think blizzard actually does something.

How did she manage her excess of items? I’m level 11-12 and my bank is already full of mining and skinning mats.
Some dude in IF gave me 100g in Whitemane but there is not way that is going to happen in Classic Fresh as nobody will be giving money away like that for a while. I have the money and can’t even buy better bags, I’m completely restricted to things being sold by vendors.
She vendors them. The characters we made don’t matter since we are starting over next week.

Damn. Unbelievable, I looked into my transactions and this account even bought a $60 game in 2010 something that makes absolutely no sense for a bot to do. My other account that is also 10+ years old that is likely also restricted also bought multiple Heartstone packs.
I’ve never seen something like this, I’m paying the same as anyone else and am being threaded terribly and will have a drastically worse experience leveling up in Classic Fresh to the point that I might as well not even start.
The game is 25 years old so it makes perfect sense that a player like me that played it in 2004/2005 would be returning without having paid a subscription in a long time or even without access to the old account.
The irony is that I never even bought gold, never considered buying gold and I would be in favor of banning anyone that sells or buys gold.
So buying a game 10 years ago doesn’t mean they didn’t hack your account now. Im not saying its the case just that its blizzards rationale. And if you didnt play wow then you still havent had a wow account. My gf has played blizzard games for a long time but never WoW. She played mostly overwatch. She has to do the trial time because she never played WoW before.
An account with the same address, same name, same name on the credit card that bought the sub, with a phone registered to it, same email. To suspect I’m a bot/gold seller is complete nonsense.
I really don’t get how people don’t sympathize with this being a huge problem to new and returning players. Blizzard should be held to a much higher standard than this.
Are you on a Hardcore server? This would explain it.
They wouldnt change your personal info. Ive been hacked before. They would pretend to be you.
Blizzard makes billions. They don’t care. They also care far more about retail than us.
The website says this is only for SoD though? I’m also locked out of trading on ERA. Has blizz spoke about this?
This trade ban at the start of fresh makes no sense to me, since it’s a brand new economy
This will destroy the classic fresh experience…is there anything that can be done!?

Playing with close friends to share our resources and craft for each other…isn’t that the point of an MMO???
Imagine, when you want to return to playing after several years away, only to find yourself unable to interact with the economy system that should be helping you play. But there’s still time for Blizzard to change it before this fresh server is released…
