Sounds like you need to uninstall that and then file your appeal.
Make sure you mention both in your appeal. Good luck man.
I was waiting to reply but this is what stuck out to me as well.
The national origin of the software you use is not under scrutiny, no.
Wonderful. This is the reason the urban legend of “auto-ban” persists. Outlying cases, correlation linked to causation, and “major” news outlets using the terms in their headlines. Frankly, it’s pretty irresponsible of WH to perpetuate the myth. They know better than that. Or, at least they should.
/shakes head
Mass reports get things looked at quickly. That’s it, and that’s all. One report gets looked at in “due time.” 500 reports from the same place gets looked at NOW.
Again, that’s all.
Since we are live-streaming hundreds of thousands of hours of WoW every single day, we are going to catch some outlying incidents on video.
- Streaming in progress.
- 500 people report a cheater.
- Report gets looked at in 60 seconds, instead of six hours.
- Person is found in violation.
- Suspension is applied, while stream is live.
- Collective gasp from the public who just witnessed the legendary auto-ban.
The key is number four, and it’s always left out of these claims of the big, bad autoban. People continually claim it jumps from #2 to #5, but it doesn’t. That’s illogical conjecture based on two outlying cases and poor wording by WH.
Correlation does not imply causation. The reports don’t result in the action. The illegal activity results in action. The multiple reports only get it done faster.
Update: Got a response on my ticket, asking for ID and proof of residence in the form of bills showing address etc.
I have a question though, I uploaded all of the pictures but after submitting a response on the ticket, it doesnt show the images or anything that I submitted other than what I wrote. Is this normal or was there a problem uploading?
The files are generally hidden since they usually contain personal information.
If your account were compromised they’d have access to your ticket history, which could put more than that account at risk. We take a lot of precautions to make sure your account information is kept secure.
In most cases, if there was an error uploading a file you’d receive an error message. Assuming you received a ticket ID, you should be set.
Thanks for the reply!
Update:
My account was restored. Thanks CS team!
Awesome man. Glad everything worked out.
I just had my account closed with the reason " Offense: Exploitative Activity: Unauthorized Cheat Programs (Hacks)" with " Our decision to close the account was made after a thorough review of relevant evidence." in the e-mail. That e-mail came less than an hour after a group of angry farmers kept saying they were reporting me for ninja skinning mobs in the area they were farming. It appears their reports were not for ninja skinning but for hacking. After my appeal, it took over 24 hours for the final e-mail saying they were upholding the punishment after doing a thorough investigation.
- The people reporting me blatantly lied
- Mass reporting someone can indeed lead to immediate punishments
- Blizzard lied claiming they did a thorough investigation when not even an hour after the incident occurred a perma ban was issued.
- The actual investigation made was not done because an actual investigation would have exonerated me and showed that those who reported me did so out of spite and should therefore be punished themselves.
If those who falsely accused me of go unpunished then what this does is give people the green light on having the power to get people banned by creating an army of reporters that lie about the reporting. This is not good. This is the product of a guilty no matter what reporting system. You simply need to obtain the threshold of reports made against someone and you will have gotten them suspended or perma banned.
My account is 20 years old with 0 botting/ hacking/ cheating offenses ever and a 1st time unconfirmed accusation has led to an account closure. Blizzard has a lot of explaining to do but we all know they won’t. They hide behind vague irrelevant responses . I guess we can only hope they change their ways and get back to an innocent until proven guilty way of handing punishments.
Players who continuously make false reports out of pure hatred for another need to be dealt with as well as these kinds of people keep the game toxic and unwelcoming to new players.
A few things:
Best not to pull up a four year old thread to make a rant about something that has pretty much fluff to it.
Any account action is done when the game masters look through the logs - not from reports, nor is it automatic.
You don’t know who reported you, as from the post, its sounds like the Blizzard watch system, Warden, found some programs on the system and reported it.
It’s best not to spread misinformation about how the reporting system works, more so when it heavily feels like something to twist the story.
…Really dug through to find a four year old thread, huh?
Anyway, few things.
Not true. One report is just as effective as one hundred. The only difference is that a massive influx of reports could trigger a ‘squelch’, which is a short lived silence mainly meant to stop chatty bots.
Oddly enough, the last thing GMs want to do 99.9% of the time is punish someone. They don’t hit the button unless they seen something that warrants it, which in this case they did.
Now no one is above the tragedy of human error, which is why the appeals system is in place. Your only recourse is to file an appeal ticket. Note it’s not a jury, nor is it a soapbox for you to ramble into. People look at the appeals and make a decision after another look at what they have.
You can appeal as many times as you want, until you are told, in no uncertain terms, that appeals will no longer be looked at.
This is not the place, nor the way, to go about this process.
Besides this thread being a 4 year old necro, I do want to address this.
Do you really think a game with a monthly subscription cost, would ALLOW random people to just report accounts and get them actually closed? Without a GM reviewing the logs? DO you realize how easily that could be abused to cost Blizzard millions of dollars?
They don’t close accounts for fun. They don’t do it just because X reports came in. They do it because their anti-cheat detection software flagged the account. Usually the detection happens well before the ban wave goes out. The chances of this having anything to do with the skinning incident an hour before are nearly zero.
The anti-cheat can have false positives though. If you feel that is the case, that is what appeals are for. You can appeal until they tell you that you are crossing the line into GM abuse after being told no. Be polite of course.
This post is 4 years old.
You’ve already been given good advice, but I’d start a fresh thread if you wish to chat about this further.
