Account character limit

Okay, I have no idea if this is the right place to post this, but here goes:
I’ve been playing since The Burning Crusade. Back then, there was a character limit of 10 per realm, so it made sense to have an overall account character limit of 50. Now, we can have how many per realm? I think I have 18 on one and it doesn’t say I can’t create more. That’s a whole bunch. And with all the allied races, we actually have a reason to create a ton of alts. So, if the realm character limit has been changed, why hasn’t the account character limit been adjusted? Yes, I might have held onto a few unused alts out of nostalgia, but they were my mains for almost 10 years, so of course I did! I don’t have that many unplayed characters anymore, and I keep feeling bad when I have to delete one to make another alt. I don’t even have a warrior yet on my main Alliance server, because I can’t afford it.

Speaking of affording it, why not charge us to open up more slots? Charge me $5-10 bucks for 10 more slots. I’ll pay it right now. It wouldn’t be very cool of you, because you’ve kinda made it harder and harder on those of us with Altitis, all while making it more and more tempting, but especially with Shadowlands making leveling easier, this would be a wise business model for you. You’ll get us logging in and playing more because we’ll have room for alts we actually enjoy playing. Isn’t that what you want? Players paying the monthly fees and the premium prices for the expansions themselves, and actually getting into the game and playing, contributing to the community? I’d assume so. So, please make this happen. And if I posted this in the wrong spot, let me know so I can delete and repost where it belongs.
Thanks.

Suggestions go in the forum most related to the topic, with the catch-all forum being General Discussion. The CS Forum is not for suggestions at all, as the Blizzard agents here are not liaison to the developers.

Thanks, I’ll move it.

If you click on the edit option on your first post, it should have a drop-down to move it to another forum too

Oh, nice! I’ve already re-posted it, though, so I guess I’ll just try to delete or mark as solved. Thanks!

If you want, you can have all 50 characters on a single server now. There’s no reason to delete a character if you haven’t hit that account cap.

If you want more than 50 characters on an account you can make a second WoW Account: “Each Blizzard account supports up to eight World of Warcraft accounts. Each World of Warcraft account contains its own characters and requires a separate paid subscription.”

To allow ANY players more than 50 characters, Blizzard would have to change the game code to support more then 50 characters for EVERY player.

Once they do that, why charge extra? It’s just a complexity, for almost no reason. Blizzard’s general policy is NOT to have lots of little things for added charges.

How many characters do you want? Don’t say “more than 50”. There has to be a number, for Blizzard to implement it. How many is “enough”, for players who want more than 50?

Because it’s a corporation and they want to make money, so this is players coming up with incentive for them to make the change.

$5 for 5 slots, max of 75 or 100.

So, a reasonable low-end number would be 60; that’s 20 characters per server for 3 servers. That’s enough to create new alts of allied races but it’s not too outlandish. But why not 70? 80? I think there should be a cap, but 50 is way too low. If I want to preview a realm before transferring characters there, I make an alt. I can’t do that when I already have 50 characters I [mostly] play. And I shouldn’t have to delete established characters with whom I braved the wilds of TBC, in order to figure out which realm to pay to move to.

I suggested putting a price on it because it would be incentive for Blizzard to do it. Because why would they improve something that doesn’t earn them money, especially if it’s something the majority of the community isn’t upset about? It seems as though my problem is niche enough to require a fee to fix it.

Also, I already own 8 accounts, because I’ve used RAF before. If I make a separate account, I’ll lose everything I’ve earned in the past. And why should I pay another $>50 in order to make more alts? I’ve given Blizzard a disgusting amount of money over the years. 8 accounts with game licenses. At least one of my accounts has been subscribed for over 14 years. The other one has been continuously subbed for at least 10. If you think I need to give them even more money for yet another game license plus a monthly sub, I think I need to break down for you a rough estimate of how much I’ve paid them so far:
120+60 = 180 for two copies of Shadowlands (CE and Heroic)
Previous expansions purchased on release dates (several CE, lots of Digital Deluxe) plus the non-deluxe versions for the second account (I’m not 100% sure on the cost of Classic + TBC so I’m guessing there) = (100+90+90+90+60+50+50+60) + (60+40+40+40+40+50+50+40) = approx $950
25 years worth of subscription fees = $4,500
Nearly every cash shop mount = 25+25+30+25+25+30+25+30+25 = $240
Nearly every cash shop pet = 10+10+10+10+10+10+10+10+10+10+10+10 = $120
That doesn’t account for the character realm transfers and recustomizations (prior to Barber Shop), which I can’t remember but could probably look up if I wasn’t so lazy.
That brings my total to… /cringe (I know this is going to be gross):
$5,990
That’s, yeah, that’s disgusting. Oh crud, I forgot to add all those other game licenses and monthly sub for RAF accounts. Oh well.
After all that, I’m still offering to pay for character account limit increases. I’m not just whining. (And I didn’t add all of this up for some kind of pi$$ing contest, I’m just trying to illustrate a point: we aren’t afraid of paying Blizzard for content/cosmetics/things that quickly end up being useless. So why not pay for something that would continue to be useful?)

I’m attempting to be constructive here. If you think they should give us more account slots for free, then you essentially agree with me, so maybe play it from that angle? Heck, I don’t even know how to get Blizzard to take any of my ideas seriously, so I guess forum-posting doesn’t even matter, other than to get a feel for the rest of the community’s opinions on it.
