I feel Dragonflight, along with other expansions and patches moving forward should have an item like MoP had when it came to various reputations — Where after reaching a certain reputation level / rank / renowned, you can purchase an item that drastically increases rep gain, up towards the particular level you were required to purchase it.
This would make things immensely alt-friendly, and help players who may feel like they want to switch mains, without feeling like they’re shackled to the character they had grinded so much rep on and obligated to stay. It would also:
Inspire players to be more diverse in playing
Give more freedom towards them finding the fun playstyle that suits them
The listed above of which will also overall keep players in the game more, as they’re prevented from feeling as burnt out or overwhelmed by these issues.
Having account bound rep items we have already that merely grant a base rep amount is alright & whatever, but having a use-item that sticks and lets say increases rep gain by 500% until you reach the level indicated in item description, would be significantly more helpful.
I think the 100% rep increase you get every 10 levels up to that level is a very good start, but I agree that something like 500% would feel much more enjoyable for those who enjoy playing a lot of alts.
Would certainly help.
Honestly I’d feel WoW would be more fun if they did that because I wouldn’t feel so colossally behind when I hop on an alt or decide to switch to another main.
I know a few guildies who switched mains due to raid-requirements of needing X buffs or due to there simply being too much of X class / role (We have an over abundance of healers in mine lol) so it’d help lift the weight of hopelessness from peoples shoulders coming on to a different toon they haven’t done much rep grinding on.
Tabards do this in dungeons for the old vanilla factions (as well as Blood Elf and Draenei). It would be good if they had tabards provide a boost to current factions too but rather than just working in dungeons they could also give rep whilst doing WQ, PvP and Raids.
This would make them feel much more rewarding to get, rather than them being the transmog option they are now that, lets be honest, most players never wear anyways.
But you dont need to do any of the rep grinding on alts to begin with. There is no reason to have any “weight of hopelessness” if you are attempting to change mains for a raid group. Because your rep doesnt effect your raid/player power.
My rogue hit 70 late last week and she’s already rank 21/30 with Valdrakken (only 18 hours played at L70). Clearly DF already gives a pretty hefty bonus, 200% to rank 10 and 100% to rank 20 as seen by rogue’s Word of a Worthy Ally buff. You can get an additional 10% daily rep buff for any faction of your choosing at Forbidden Reach (the 13 hr buff in the pic). None of that requires any purchase at all, which seems more alt-friendly than WoW has ever been (including MoP).
500% seems like a big ask and I’m pretty sure MoP buffs were not nearly that high, but I’ll go look and edit this.
Edit: The Grand Commendation of the Shado-Pan (and all the other grand commendation tokens) only gave 100%, so seems doubtful they’re going to give 5x that. We already have 2x that from rank 1 to rank 10, so I’m pretty happy with the current alt-friendliness we’ve got in DF (and hopefully that carries forward).
Doing it every 10 renown for a toon would be more ideal.
Blizzard say a lot of things, but rarely put their money where their mouth is.
Sorry, but they shattered my trust with BFA and Shadowlands.
I meant items more akin to that of —
Than tabards. Something that gives a base increase in rep. Although having a tabard that or battle-standard that does rep increase wouldn’t be such a bad idea either. You could upgrade it like heirlooms per 10 renown you reach, so you can push the bracket for your alts.
Although that’s true, if you want to make your toon who’s elevated to your new main for raid groups etc, to push the questlines and get other skins / customisations & so forth from reps – You’ll have to start from a much lower point than what your other former-main had already achieved & reached by that point in time.
It’s already out there. I doubt Blizzard will change their mind after saying that they’ll do Accountwide rep. It’s a popular feature in other games and would encourage players to play alts more and experience their older content more.
Upon further research, it’s better than what I actually thought it was — However it’d be nice if it was boosted here & there – and still applied to other content reputations.
