Account age

is there a way to find out when my account was created. or when i got my first achievement?

I don’t know about achievements, but you can check your Account Settings and then Transaction History to see when you first subscribed.

Achievements weren’t tracked until late TBC. If you still have the character you first started out with you could ballpark it that way.

Otherwise check account history like the person above suggested.

My transaction history only goes back to 2010.

I’ve had the account since the beginning, in 2004.

Almost same here.
Transaction history begins December 2010.
We’ve had this account since 2006.

My guess is that something updated in 2010, and it only counts from there.

EDIT:
Look at what is counted on your account.

It is digital upgrades only (first one Cata Dec 6, 2010) for a long time.
Sub for me is only registereded from August 2018 onwards.

But you can check that. If you remember the name of your first character - and it still exists - you can check it out in Armory. I can see my first Achievements dating back to October 15, 2008 - the first day I logged in after Achievements went live.
Further back than this I can only look at my old screenshots.

I remember that once upon a time all accounts made before some specific date, and still active, got a small statuette of a character as a reward - my account was too new by a month or so to get this

Weird, mine actually only goes as far back as 2012. This account began on day 1. I guess this data is just lost now? That actually makes me just a little bit sad!

If you bought Cata as CD’s this is why  I remember we did, but the CD’s were faulty. We had the money back and downloaded from the 'net - it took 3 or 4 whole days
Sept 12 is MoP.

I think I did, though I think I bought MoP that way too? I think it was the last version I had a box of. I kept those until my most recent move ~3.5 years ago but I miiiight have tossed all my old boxes because, really, enough is enough haha.

I guess the monthly sub doesn’t go back that far, which to be fair isn’t really useful data. I too would like to see stuff like the original date my characters were created. I think my account pre-dated WoW. I didn’t heavily engage with Blizzard products, but I did play Diablo 2 and Warcraft 3 and you needed a battle.net account to play them.

Ah well, some stuff is just lost to time I guess.

Ya and that’s likely because we didn’t get transitioned to BNet accounts until late 2009. My first transaction also shows as a date in 2010 and I was here for launch. Which is you weren’t active (aka didn’t do it right off) there could be a big delay. I don’t think I was active in 2009 although I might have moved my account over. I know I came back for a while just before Cata with some friends.

My kids played this. I feel old

And I still have the original CDs from Vanilla plus handbook.

I never did the RTS games. I was loyal to C&C.

I played a bit of Red Alert on my 486 back in the day, lol. I didn’t sink much time into RTS though because, frankly, I’m kind of terrible at them. I was a FPS guy in my youth. I only really played War3 and SC/SC2 because of friends.

C&C was a pretty sick franchise though. Plus those live action cut scenes, hahaha top notch stuff.

Haha

My first “real” exposure to FPS was Quake 1 back in grade 7 (1996ish) And wow did I suck at it lol.

Ditto. Quake was why I saved up over the summer and bought my very first PC, so I could experience the glory that was GL Quake  Not too long after though I moved into Counter-Strike and played that for most of my youth, then I played a bunch of Battlefield (mostly 3 & 4), but I was older for those.

I did get back into CS:GO maybe 10-ish years ago and enjoyed it, even if I wasn’t super good anymore, but I’ve distanced myself from that game. All the gambling controversy, especially the child gambling stuff, was off-putting and I didn’t want to be associated with that brand anymore. There’s no escaping Valve I suppose, my Steam Library is quite expansive, but I can’t support the lootbox stuff until they make an active effort to update their policies.

mine shows my frst sub when i started ppaying online. i started with game time cards… my history doesnt even show my buying cata or wrath

Customer Support used to tell you your account creation date but that’s now become account verification data or whatever.

So I think if you submit a ticket they’ll still tell you but you might have to prove you are who you are.

My steam library is full of all the fallout games. I go back to them every now and then. Never got into CS. Too much controversy like you mentioned.
