Accidentally Bought PVP Set item instead of PVE

So last night I hit KSM on my char and accidentally bought the PVP det helmet instead of PVE one. I was wondering if there is any way for someone to fix this and give me the PVE version of the helmet.

Thanks!

No unfortunately a GM wont reverse it.

That sucks. Why would they put both vendors next to each other and the same currency is being used for both PvP and PvE items.

Hopefully someone sees that and fix it so others don’t make the same mistake. I don’t do any PvP why would I want to buy a PvP helmet.

You will want to move this to general or the pvp forums if u want the dev to see this they dont come here for suggestions/feedback/bugs.

They did push out a hotfix to make the item refundable - so long as players don’t alter or equip the item, and it’s within the refund period (typically 2 hours).

But if you did equip the item, there is nothing that can be done. Blizzard has put safeguards in place, but if players don’t take those few extra seconds to make sure they’re purchasing the correct item? That’s a player issue more than a Blizzard issue.

I’m sorry that is likely nothing you’d want to hear, but there are some things that the GMs are not allowed to step in and correct, and equipped/altered items/items purchased and the return timer has run through are one of the big things that they cannot do anything about;

I do wish you luck.

Because the item reward is from hitting a certain rating in PvP, M+, or AotC.

The PvP gear from that vendor used to be a Hero piece of gear (but 1/6) but for some reason they decided to make it champion track instead.

Hopefully they fix that issue because a lot of us don’t have unlimited time to play the game and grind hard to get item like this. I read the forums and there are numerous posts about the same honest mistake people made and bought the wrong item. The vendors are right next to each other and look exactly the same. The currency is the same for PvP and PvE gear. It should clearly state in the name of the item or a pop-up window that you are buying PvP item or PvE item respectfully. Hopefully someone sees this and do something about it.

I think they should help out with issues like this. Some of us paid a lot of money for subscriptions since day one the vanilla came out. We just want to enjoy the game at its full potential and an honest mistake like these ruins the experience.

I’ve made the same mistake. Both sets look the same, the currency is the same and both vendors are next to each other.
The token’s description doesn’t say which vendor sells pvp gear and which one sells pve one.
Basically, the user experience for these vendors is the worst, and on top of that the community have 0 empathy about the people that make this honest mistake.
It took me 185 wipes to defeat Queen and now I’m seeing a lot of people saying I won’t get a refund.
These are the things that make people quit the game.

You’re welcome to interpret it that way if you wish, but I’m afraid how one feels does not help people get changes made to current policies.

It is not a requirement to voice whether you agree or disagree about any given situation while giving direction on where to post your concerns someplace it will make the greatest impact and stands the best chance to see a change. Customer Support simply is not that place.

Blizzard has the expectation that players are both playing attention and reading tooltips when they make their purchasing/crafting decisions. If you feel that this expectation is too high or otherwise unreasonable, you’ll want to submit that feedback in an appropriate location (which is not here). Either GD, or the in-game suggestion tool would be a better place.

This is true, but the item you are purchasing has a tooltip. If you’ve purchased the wrong one, there’s unforthnately nothing that can be done here. Suggestions for the dev team are better suited to GD or another non-support forum.

A GM is generally limited to the same refund and item recovery tools as are available to the player. A non-refundable item isn’t something they can refund for you.

Why would you double check a piece of gear if you don’t even know it can be a pvp one?
Last time I played it was in Mist of Pandaria. I didn’t even know you could get pvp gear with a token acquired in pve.
So, basically, if you’re not an experienced player or have read a guide before, there’s no way for you to know how the system works.
And on top of all that, the pieces of gear look 100% the same as well as the NPCS , which are next to each other.

While I can see how someone might make that mistake, I feel like it’s a reasonable expectation that people would look over their options before spending the token. Previously, we had folks purchasing the wrong one because they were both on the vendor and folks ignored tooltips. I don’t know a better option exists beyond the tooltips and the non-refundable warning message&preview though

  • Being more specific with the token’s tooltip. Both npcs are mentioned but it doesn’t say which one sells pvp gear and which one pve gear.
  • Having NPCs in different zones
  • Not making the gear set icons 100% the same!!! (This honestly feels like laziness from the designers/devs)
  • You could even make the token redemption part of a small quest where you’re explained you have to choose a set piece, pve or pvp, and depending on what you chose, you’re sent to X or Y npc.

There are 200 ways of doing it but they chose to do it the worst way possible.

You could make those suggestions (probably on GD, devs don’t check out the support forums), but I feel like it wouldn’t do much. Other than being a nuisance, in the case of moving the NPCs to two or three different zones. If folks don’t read the tooltips on what they buy, the tooltip on the token probably wouldn’t have an impact.

Just for clarity, that token can be earned through three possible opportunities, one of which is PvP.

KSM by itself awards a mount, but is also a trigger for the Spelunker Supreme meta achievement which is where the token is rewarded. It isn’t inherently PvE or PvP and therefore can be used for both.

That’s fuel for mistakes

Just to update you guys, the support sent me an automated message which was useless.

I’d drop the masked profanity, that’s a no-no under the Code of Conduct.
