Yeah I think that although skyriding is much more how flying ought to be, in WoW, flying is just a way to get from one point on the ground to another, without touching the intervening ground.

The devs actually tried “flying stuff” like aerial combat, back in some Wrath era experiment, but none of that ever happened, because, frankly, 3D combat is (chocolate ice cream) in any sort of WoW context that isn’t a bombing run. (Bombing run! Yay! Who doesn’t love bombing runs???)

So, how you fly doesn’t matter to the game, and if it makes players happy or better able to do what they want, let them fly how they want.

It is locked behind the lowest possible requirement that can exist in the game. And that’s the compromise for it to remain in the game at all. Because the way people used this type of flying is to skip content, distance themselves from the game, avoid players, avoid playing, and trivialize content.

The ONLY reason it was locked is because blizz wants to remove it and since the players had a fit and said no, this is Ion’s way of sticking it to said players.

There is ZERO reason for it to be locked other than that.

Clearly some people find the new flying either unenjoyable or difficult or cant do it for accessibility reasons.

Just felt like a very weird thing to lock away. Hopefully next patch/zone its just there day 1.

Every game isn’t for every person.

It should be automatically available as an alternative to dragonriding. It’s not even “better”–it’s just a different type of riding. It’s slower and more precise, and more importantly, not mechanically demanding.

I have never seen them indicate this. I believe they think they fixed the issue when they put in the motion sickness tools.

And they provide you will vehicles for every quest that I had seen that requires use of dragon flying.
