Access Violations Wow after 4/8/2025 hotfixes

wow version: 11.1.0.60189
Started up this morning after the hotfixes were implemented. I get to logging into game server and I get the access violations. So far i have updated the bios, updated the graphics driver, Had windows scan for file corruption. Did the scan and repair option and check for updates within the launcher. Still getting the error. I am not having this issue on any other software/games. Only WoW and only when i tried to play starting 2 hours ago.

The spam monitor gets a bit overzealous at times with new posters, especially if you make a lot of edits in a short time. Mods will likely release that later.

Unfortunately the crash codes are not handled by the forums, since it’s now mostly player discussion. A dxdiag might give more insight.

Did you update any drivers recently?

I get this from time to time.

I believe it’s your memory. At least that’s what I have come to conclude on my PC. My build is very similar to yours.

My husband has almost the exact build as me, except our RAM. I have RAM with light’s and he doesn’t.

His never gets this error, but mine does.

It’s a thought. I’m sure someone will find a flaw in it, but I have worked back to grant permission in every function and it’s still occasionally giving me the same error as you.

My next troubleshoot is to swap the RAM with my husband and see if he gets the error.

I’ll +1 to this, with completely different hardware.

CPU: 14700k (Yes, all the bios updates were done, and haven’t received an Access Violation in a couple months)
GPU: RTX3080
RAM: 64GB 3200mhz clock-speed

Just started happening yesterday. Happened back to back to back last night in raid. Twice today so far, within a few minutes of each other.

I did update the drivers after it started happening this morning. I also updated the BIOS as well. When I saw the reply asking about dxdiag, I was in the process of uninstalling and doing a fresh install of all 100+ gigs. The fresh install worked and I 've been able to play without that error. When I finally got on, several guildmates said they had to do the same yesterday.

I’m just asking for clarification because I’ve had this exact same issue as soon as I installed the Hotfix but are you saying a fresh game install solved the issue? Did you uninstall battlenet and wow or just wow specifically?

Bumping this to find a solution or at least have Blizzard acknowledge that its an issue.

I’m adding another reply because I tried uninstalling WoW. I was able to reinstall the game right before raid and played for 2 hours straight with no issues. I then came back and was starting to change some graphic settings and I got the same error. I then relaunched the game and tried importing a weak aura and as soon as I tried to paste it in, I got the same error again so reinstalling did not work for me. Has anyone else tried something different since the hotfix happened yesterday that’s worked?

Still have this issue, can Blizzard at least acknowledge this issue?

I wouldn’t hold your breath on that. It’s quite rare that Blizzard does anything in these forums, it’s more of a community guided tech support unfortunately, and even with that any Access violation thread usually just has a snap “lol you have an intel 13/14 CPU that’s it” an the thread dies off into the void.

I don’t even know where we’re supposed to contact blizzard about crap like this anymore, because if you do it through their ingame ticket you just get some AI slop in response, and a human will never know you even exist. It’s really disappointing.

There is no AI for answering tickets. If there were, all responses would be instant. The humans answering tickets use templates because they type the same things hundreds of times per week.

Blizzard used to do deep-dive troubleshooting of all your PC and ISP issues as a courtesy service, but they were never part of the subscription fees. They can still point you in the right direction with their pre-written help documentation, but ultimately, they are not PC technicians or ISP staff members, so you may need to solve larger problems with outside help.

Hello everyone,

I started experiencing this issue yesterday. I had been playing the game throughout the day without any problems. However, suddenly during the night, my game crashed, and since then it has been crashing consistently within 10 seconds to 1 minute after connecting.

I’ve tried updating my graphics drivers, repairing WoW, reinstalling the game, and even running some Windows repair tools—but nothing has resolved the issue.

Interestingly, if I log into another WoW account without The War Within (TWW), it connects and plays without any issues. WoW Classic also runs perfectly fine.

This problem only occurs with WoW TWW. All my other games are working normally as well.

Small update: After the reinstall failed, I remember that I had a notification pop up at the character select screen that said I’m running a new version of the game and that my out of date addons may disrupt my game. This was unusual because all my addons were up to date but I had not freshly reinstalled them (they were still in my Curseforge folder and I hit reinstall). In hindsight, this should have been a red flag that a specific addon was causing the problem. Instead I uninstalled WoW, Battlenet, and everything associated with Blizzard/WoW (Curseforge, WeakAuras Companion, RaiderIO, etc). Currently I am running WoW with no addons and it appears to be working. I ran into a different error which I believed had to do with permission requests so I gave Battlenet and WoW access through my security software. I played for about 2 hours now with no problems since I’ve done this and I’ll continue playing tonight to see if I get any other errors. If I don’t get any more errors tonight, I will begin reinstalling my addons one by one.

TL;DR : It appears an addon was causing my game to crash after the Tuesday hotfix went live but I am not sure which one.

Hi guys,

Still not able to play the game.

The game is crashing almost instantly - even in the connecting screen.

I tried everything as per I mentioned on my previous reply to this post and also removed all addons from wow as recommended, but nothing has worked.

Sad…

Turning off optional gpu features, advanced work submit and turning to dx11 has greatly reduced the amount of crashes I was personally getting. (Under system graphics settings)

That’s not an option for me personally because FPS drops below what’s usable.
