Access Violation "Memory could not be written"

Yeah, my post was to Fatpony. I hadn’t gotten to yours yet, but Elocin has.

yes very clever sadge update,

i used to get bluescreens every now and then. thats no big deal if you get a bluescreen every now and then, but this just amp’d it up.

i can deal with a bluescreen every couple weeks or even every couple of days, that doesn’t matter. but not crashes every 5-10 minutes where the game becomes unplayable.

as for the bluescreen crashes, ive done everything on the support there that they recommend. whats my next step? this stuff -_-

  1. Update your drivers and operating system to resolve any compatibility errors.
  2. Check your system for potentially unwanted programs and malware with a [security scan
  3. Security programs can prevent your drivers or hardware from being accessed correctly. Troubleshoot your security programs.
  4. Use [System File Checker] to scan your operating system files for errors.
  5. Overclocked hardware can cause system instability. Disable any active overclocking on your hardware, including factory overclocking.
  6. Overheating hardware can cause Windows to crash. [Check for overheating components.]
  7. Improperly slotted or failing Memory can cause system crashes. [Scan your RAM for errors]
  8. Consult your computer manufacturer or a local technical troubleshooter for further assistance. Blizzard Customer Service cannot assist with this issue as it is not caused by a Blizzard product.

what do i do after all of this has been completed? :frowning:

just got a crash ILLEGAL_INSTRUCTION 0xc000001d (ILLEGAL_INSTRUCTION) at 00007ff7b665c5c5.

i started to download addons/weakauras again, mainly because i will need them for raid tomorrow. dont know if that had anything to do with the crash. can try disabling again but ill need them tomorrow morning anyways for raid.

last raid i didnt last 5-10 minutes it was too unstable and i had to leave. literally unplayable.

So you definitely have a system-level problem, which is not something Blizzard can patch or fix for you. If you do all that and nothing works, it’s time to visit a PC tech IRL.

you must have missed my post the other day, i legit took my PC in and they said everything was fine. they ran WoW, it didn’t crash at the time for them. starting to feel like the boy who cried wolf. idk, system is 7 years old. maybe its time for a new one.

but yeah took it into a PC place and they couldn’t find anything wrong with it, thats happened two or three times in the past year or so.

:frowning:

i guess i will include because it was definitely missed. ran cata no problem for 10+ hours yesterday raiding, weakauras addons etc. the works.

only problem is when i go on retail zz

Are you also Xerenity?

Seeing bluescreens “now and then” without permanent resolution is a considerable problem. You may just be overheating or taxing the hardware more at home and causing an issue with the PSU.

yeah same person

i know seeing blue screens is a problem but there was never a fix for it so they just kept happening.

overheating definitely not an issue, have a program open and another to monitor fans incase it does.

you think my PSU is causing my crashes? hmm… i dont know because i could play cata 10 hours straight no problem.

its only retail and only since update. blue screens have been long time though, i posted a recent error log. anything can be seen from this? @blue post zz

A game that uses less resources and has lower system requirements than Retail. Not relevant really.

so pc bricked go next basically

out of date gg -_-

man i was hoping to get a couple more years out of this rig, only 6-7 years old. just put 16gb more ram and new m.2 drive in the other day when i took it in

did this update cuck me and make my pc irrelevant?

I’m wondering about something that isn’t showing as erroring, but is showing as installed.

Are you using Asus’s Armoury Crate or Aura software? Those can be unstable and lead to problems in what seem to be unrelated ways. We’ve seen it with Asus, Razer, Corsair - that the peripheral software is just unstable enough to make the whole thing unstable because it is handling some fairly basic interactions.

If you’re using those, are they up to date, or can you remove them to test?

Silly question, but the old and new ram sticks are together, and the new ram is the same specs as the motherboard? Adding memory is fine, but mismatching can cause issues. So if you upgraded, and started having the issue, try removing the new ram and see if it resolves.

no they took the 16 out and put fresh in. it was having issues before and after the ram, so it wouldn’t be the ram that would be the issue. i think its the video card or something is just severely outdated and its causing crashes.

because my system used to have the odd crash, but now its showing up every 5-20 minutes. actually unplayable.

not using any of the asus armory crate or aura software, only thing i was using was the nvidia geforce experience i think. i customized the install though and removed the physx and the hd audio driver. went down to the bare bones just the driver itself and still crashed.

i really think its my video card is just outdated now and its just gg. i cant think of anything else. why would i be able to go blast on cata for 10hrs nothing no problems, but then when i go on retail it happens.

like someone said, game uses less resources and has lower system req. idk what average video card is thats recommended for retail? i bet u this update just tipped it over the edge and now its bricked.

which is weird because my graphics seem fine and my computer seems normal… god i hate this, thanks for helping me sorry im testy

The GPU is one generation newer than the minimum (10-series vs. 900-series).

What was used to track temperatures? A lot of temperature-monitoring software uses averages instead of reporting peaks.

I have the same issues.

Not hardware, everyone is getting the error after the update

Not everyone, some people. Plus, this thread was started before Tuesday’s update, so that isn’t relevant to this topic.

Everyone who went to Argus yesterday would get the issue, but this was already hotfixed last night.

Live Colonel events 144s are usually graphics related. What are the temperatures of your graphics card while you’re playing the game.
