Access Violation after hitting play from launcher

Hello,
I have been having issues that started just on Saturday Dec 22 2024.
The error happens after hitting play on the launcher (or using the WoW.exe directly) the white window for WoW will appear and immediately the error window. Nothing was updated or changed previous to this. Was working Saturday then not on Sunday.

The following is in the error:
Exception: ACCESS_VIOLATION - The instruction at *0x00007ff7e7c8acdd referenced memory at *0x00000203e69ba058". The memory could not be “written”. ProcessID: 18156 ThreadID: 14888
This is my DXDiag:

I am aware my computer is on it’s last legs in terms of hardware which could possibly be the issue. I have tried Classic which works fine, I have tried many other games I have and they all work fine.
I will try to summarize every troubleshooting I have done, definitely not in order.
-Renaming and removing Interface, WTF, Cache folders.
-Running as Administrator
-Rebooting
-Checking drivers and rebooting
-Closing all programs except launcher (And no launcher)
-Reset game settings from launcher
-Force run in DX11
-Running as Administrator + Run in DX11
-Uninstall WoW Retail and delete the retail folder followed by fresh install.
-Removed GPU and RAM reseating RAM in opposite channels (2 sets of 2 just switch the channels they were in)
-Installed WoW in a completely different folder not related to other Blizz games.
-Ran a Defrag for both Blizzard folder and whole HD

I have checked almost every Access Violation topic here and Reddit and none of the solutions have helped me.

Please note that an HDD, like the Seagate BarraCuda 2TB in your machine, doesn’t meet the system requirements for any of the Blizzard titles these days. They are too slow compared to SSDs.

Additionally, you have many crashes from the Meta Quest Remote Desktop Server and the virtual monitor.

Card name: Meta Virtual Monitor

Problem signature:
P1: Meta Quest Remote Desktop Server.exe

So you could start by addressing those, but don’t expect great performance while still using an HDD.

In addition to Elocin’s notes, you have a really weird amount of RAM showing -28gb. I’d check what you’re using for ram and make sure everything is seated and functioning.

Also, are you using remote desktop into someone else’s PC to play? Or vice versa?

I am going through and uninstalling/ removing all the software like that monitor now.

The remote was for when I used to bring my laptop to work.

As for RAM I will double check that on this next restart.

Odd update…

Though the existing problem persists…

I got aggravated and just clicked play 10 times or so and 3 instances of the game started and only the 1st one had the error…

So… I found a work around I guess?

Check your antivirus and see if it is doing any core isolation, like Windows Defender. if you have that enabled there is a high probability it is your root cause. The setting is called Memory Integrity. Try turning it off and see if the crashes go away.
