Hey there! As the title suggests, I’m looking for a guild to raid with in Cata classic. Currently on Benediction (Alliance), but certainly willing to relocate if the right fit is out there.
I always find that the best way to organize these posts is to break - em down into a sort of “my resume + what I have to offer” and a “what I’m looking for” section. So i’ll do just that.
WHO AM I?
A longtime tank who’s passionate about raiding. I love progression and difficult PvE content. My history as a tank;
-Paladin throughout original Burning Crusade, did some T6 content somehow (I was BAD)
-Paladin throughout original WotLK, mid - level normal mode raiding
-Blood DK throughout original Cata, raided at a higher level (some Heroic bosses)
-Warrior tank (AKA banner boy) in MoP, raided at about the same level (progressing some heroic / mythic bosses)
-Got lost in time travel for WoD, and was (fortunately?) “unable” to play
-Slight step up in raid progression for Legion, coming close to cutting edge a couple of times as a Vengeance DH
-Started raiding with a core group of friends in BfA with a guild that eventually was able to get to that cutting edge level, Demon Hunter tank in Uldir, rerolled to Brewmaster for BoD
-Core group only lasted one tier in Shadowlands, where we managed to take down Mythic Castle Nathria (Sire is one of the greatest fights of all time, Stone Legion is NOT one of the greatest fights of all time), was rocking me some Guardian Druid
-Had to leave Dragonflight early due to the IRL debuff
-Raided Vanilla classic for a bit as well, once again as a Bear tank
If you’re interested in logs, would suggest looking at Dinosaurguy (Shadowlands), Businessdad (BfA) and Uncleslam (BfA + Legion) for most recent high - end experience. All on Zul’jin - Horde.
As far as playing other roles, I’m not completely opposed. Tanking has been and always will be my jam and will always be my preference, but I might be down to play a Rogue / Frost DK / Enh Sham / Disc Priest if the guild seems to be a great fit.
As far as tanking class, I’m cool with Druid, Paladin or Warrior. Already played Blood DK throughout Cata. (Yes they’re strong, no you don’t need one).
Personality wise, I’m a goofball. No way around it. Obviously progression raiding requires a lot of focus and I can do plenty of that, but there must be bants. There will be bants.
Also willing to take on some leadership positions if it ever arises. Can’t say I have a lot of raid - leading experience (nor am I looking to gain more), but roster management, strategy, recruitment and loot distribution are all aspects of WoW that I have for better or worse, experienced.
Outside of raiding, just like a chill group of people I can hop on disc with and shoot the…poop. Should have used a different phrase. Poor choice of words aside, the community aspect of a guild is BIG to me. Happy to tank dungeons and just help the fine people of .
Might try my hand at some PEEVEEPEE this time around too. I think OG Cata was the last time I PvP’d semi - seriously. I remember liking it. Guess I’ll find out if its all nostalgia. Never going to be my main focus though.
Oh and I’m a 29 - year old boyo. I’m still a youngster for like, four more months. Yay.
WHAT I’M LOOKING FOR
A heroic guild of course. I would prefer to raid with those who have a reasonable amount of experience. I could care less about speed - runs or ultra fast progression as long we get the content done while its relevant. I will always have a preference towards 25 players, but I’m not at all opposed to 10 player. I’m assuming those are going to be pretty popular.
Additionally, IF i’m tanking, I want to well, tank. I know there’s a lot of “Blood DK tank, Druid off - tank who spends half their time as a kitty” talk going around and I’m just not interested in that. I have no doubt it has its merits, but I think its important I make that clear. Showing up on say lets say my Druid expecting to be tanking most of the time only to be relegated to occasional off - tank wouldn’t be fair to myself nor the raid group I join. It has nothing to do with ego, I just would to make it clear so we don’t waste each others time.
Raid times for me are quite flexible right now as long as they’re in the evening at night. I’m on the US West Coast so anytime past 6 on West Coast server and anytime past 3 on an East Coast server should work for me. (I’m currently doing landscaping which is fortunately, a daytime job.)
As I stated in the “me” section (probably would have made more sense here) a fun raid atmosphere is important to me. I like people who want to be around each other. None of that sterile “show up get it done, go home” culture. In terms of the “vibe” i’m looking for, I most certainly prefer people willing to “go there” with them jokes. Lets say “people who aren’t easily offended and like to razz each other” but on an adult level. Don’t need to be around people who push the envelope for no other reason than to be edgy. I’ve raided with teens before, it is…an experience.
