Absurdly low drop rates and weekly lock outs

I realized that before I ever even thought about collecting anything in this game. The odds of me getting something are the same whether I participate or not. So why bother? At least I still have my sanity.

I am still riding the night sabre I bought from the Teldrassil mount vendor as a level 40 Nelf.

Those cat mount animations are terrific, they look and feel really great.
Number one in my top ten.

It’s not even about showing it off, it’s a good mount for a ‘savage pandaren’ transmog look/rp character concept, that’s the only reason I’m still trying. These low drop rates on things that can really bring a look/concept together hurt RPers quite a bit

I’m living this right now. Collected all the mounts from classic to Cataclysm. Now, I’m on Mists and I’m thinking, wow these drop rates really really suck. Like, I thought the grey riding camel was annoying. Invincible was a joke compared to these world bosses. I’m at like 500 attempts with Nalak and 700 or so with Galleon. I’m running about 40 alts a week. Don’t we have some kind of community team that’s supposed to represent us now? Maybe bubble this up and pass it along.

This is actually wrong. If you buy the fire-keeper’s oath which is purchasable for just 100 timeless coins, you can then use the toy in bgs and every kill you get there function the same as getting a kill on the timeless isle, so it’s actually much easier to get now.

Other than that I agree with the fact that those world bosses A. have way too long of a respawn timer, and B. their drop rate is incredibly low.

I’m getting close to 4,000 attempts across 41 attempts per week on my characters in trying to get Son of Galleon to drop. I would love for the drop chance to go up significantly from its alleged 0.02% drop rate as I do want this mount in particular. It’s really frustrating to spend upwards of roughly 10 hours a week for months trying to get it to drop.

Ill never get the logic behind getting upset because an item with a 1% or lower drop rate wont drop.

This level of OCD farming has actively hurt the game over the years and ruined the prestige of any kind of mount reward since “mount farming” became a thing.

It’s not about OCD for many folks, and it’s honestly kinda gross how you’d disparage an actually quite harmful mental condition and belittle it’s impact on the lives of those afflicted by it in order to compare it to intentional and willful psychological manipulation on the part of Blizzard so they can have better counts on ‘monthly active users’

Some character fantasy concepts work best with specific mounts. A savage pandaren for instance would work best with a Mushan Beast to go with it.

For others, who started off trying to get it for one reason or another it’s now become an issue of sunk cost fallacy (I’ve spent so much time on this, if I stop all my prior investment into this is wasted/pointless)

Or other still who only continue out of spite because they wont let the steaming pile of worgen excrement that is the terribad rng for this game beat them, and as soon as it drops they’ll just…stop play.

Heck, right now the ONLY reason I log onto retail myself is to kill Galleon on a weekly basis for a mix of all of these reasons.

See, a once per week activity isn’t an obsesive compulsion you, quite clear, troll. And OCD is much, much more impactful than ‘I need to do this one thing again, so as to not have my prior effort be invalidated’

It’s more of a situation where you go “I MUST do this thing, if I don’t horrible/life ending things can/will happen” such as washing ones hands ever 10 minutes, or cleaning dishes by hand with boiling water to ensure they are sanatary. OCD is something that is constantly and actively detrimental to your physical well being.

So, how bout you check yourself, before you keep flashing your ignorance like a bootleg version of a pervert.

“I don’t think you heard me… I said I want the gladiator mount but I don’t want to PvP!”

Sorry you didn’t get your .2% drop brotato. Why don’t you level another 50 alts to run it on? No need to lash out and be rude though.

Prestige? Todays mounts look 1000% better than these Mists mounts, which makes the drop rates even more ridiculous. I collect mounts because A) I was unable to raid back in the day and B) because SL got boring extremely quick. There’s absolutely no reason to have such low drop rates on these mounts, aside from this morally bankrupt company trying to string along peoples subs.

  1. read full context
  2. This was in regards to the Bloody Coins for the only other Mushan Beast mount, which IS NOT gladiator
  3. If you aren’t going to contribute to a respectful discussion, kindly go away, thanks.

I did.

tldr: player wants something they don’t want to earn.

In conclusion I couldn’t come up with a better solution than Clark did.

If you hate them so much then why bother farming them on your 40+ alts? LUL

Wow such respect many contributions.

:doughnut: :brain:

Who said I hate them? They’re just dated and the RNG is super dumb. People who argue against this type of thing (and you totally gave yourself away with that prestigious comment) are the ones who already have the mounts and are some reason offended by people that haven’t dedicated their whole life to this game and every expansion.

Working as intended. Intention here is for it to be rare based on the drop rate. Is collecting compulsory or not? If it is, maybe you have an argument for the drop rate being ‘too low’. If it isn’t, it doesn’t really matter what the drop rate is or if it’s even something that can be obtained at all.

Anyway, as someone else pointed out, the Ashhide Mushan is much easier to obtain. Don’t even have to cheese it, can just gradually work towards it over time in random BGs, slowly but surely. Much better IMO than trying that lottery at Galleon every week. Avoiding any and all PvP just on principle in spite of this fact sounds like obstinance more than anything else.

Meanwhile I decided to do a karazhan legion mog run and Midnight dropped. I forgot Midnight existed. And I got it. So yay. These systems are wonky because I too make sure to get a sha and galleon kill in on at least one ton every week

Cool strawman bro. Got any more wild accusations to make about me?
