Absorption mechanics

As a mage let’s say I have the following up:

Greater Fire Protection Potion (Absorbs 1950 to 3250 fire dmg)
Fire Ward (Absorbs 920 fire dmg)
Ice Barrier (absorbs 826 dmg)

and then Ony pelts me with a fireball in phase 2 - which of those get used up first?

I’m pretty sure the Potion gets used up first. At least that’s been my experience on Rag.

No clue. Without burning consumables you could at least test Fire Ward and Ice Barrier with a Warlock Imp. I’d hope it prioritized the higher CD absorb first but you never know…

It seems almost random on my mage when I’m soloing scarlet monastery and fighting the evokes. Ice barrier fades first more often though.

You could probably check your log then check consumables and buffs, filter for these three, and see relative uptime of each.

Popped gfpp and ice barrier, incoming dmg was fire based, see which one gets taken off first. Just make sure to validate against type of damage to; p2 in ony would be good for testing since it’s all fire dmg though

Jump in some lava.

I’m pretty sure they would be absorbed in the order you have listed : potion first, then ward, then barrier.

Potion>>>>>ward>>>barrier

Does Improved Fire Ward work in raids?

Hey we actually tested when my priest got his dragonlord ring, it’s the one that was applied first.

Edit: We tested with: Mark of the Dragonlord, PW:S, and Shadow protection potion as absorbs, and dark runes as our damage source.

And yes I know this is a big necro

Why don’t you just jump in the lava and see which one expires first?
