typical retail mentality: content is fun but… no reward makes it not worth playing.
I know us players should not expect complete systems with a Start AND an End. Not even asking for a title at this point just a way to complete the soul of iron challenge at 60. There is no way to complete dying at 60 is failing atm.
life… has no ‘completion’ beyond death.
immortality would truly be an end but alas, it’s not for us.
what you are seeing is more than a system. it is a metaphor for our eternal struggle.
If I wanted to do life I would not be playing a game.
it’s not a game. it’s a virtual world.
Still Blizzard can’t keep it like this. Most people at least thought you could hit 60 and complete soul of iron even if they didn’t think they would get a reward. Right now it screams bugged or maybe unfinished.
i’m afraid if they add a reward, it will lead to degenerate play.
this is the only way to keep it ‘for fun’ without impacting quality of player interaction.
it’s sad, but some are just not mature enough to handle such a challenge.
Each season was supposed to have a challenging feat was how I interpreted SOM. This one is Hardcore characters and Raids. Next one will be something different. If Blizzard does not want to change Classic wow maybe they should of just relaunched Classic wow again as it was.
The dang soul of iron npc literally tells you there will be no reward when you first talk to her.
A little reward would be cool tho. Like a tabard and Perma buff calling you a bamf who knows
that sounds even better
more like soul of crybaby amirite
Not happy with Soul of Iron? Don’t do it. I am loving it and am happy with my trophy buff. I hope they never offer a big reward for it because then the sweaties will exploit it.
I’m sure we’d see a Soul of Iron mafia or boosting or an army of bot bodyguards or something.
You have a fun challenge, and you get bragging rights if you get to sixty. If that isn’t enough for you, don’t do it. Problem solved.
Why do you think you deserve something for that?
Despite the fact that there are no rewards , I see many players with the Iron Soul buff.
I’m having fun. I also don’t think you know how to use the words subvert or ironically, and that’s ironic.
Season of Ironically
I never thought of this, but you’re absolutely right. As nerdy as it sounds, probably the only way to preserve the integrity of any sort of soul of iron/hardcore mode is to not offer any reward. Otherwise it’ll be min-maxed and exploited into worthlessness.
They should make it that we can unlock ashbringer if we don’t die on ALL 8 classes
Better if it’s soul iron buff for PvE and if horde kills you you have to start over. And if you reached 60 without dying and completed all raids without dying while participating and not afking then after you complete your last raid like naxx. Your character is saved with a saved state or checkpoint. So you are safe. And you have to do thesame thing on ALL other 8 classes. However. If you fail on say your third or 5th class or 6th 7th or 8th. Then the 1st characters saved checkpoint is gone. You have to start all over again at 0. That would be ultra hard though. Or blizzard can make it that you are saved per class so if you fail on the 2nd char. You don’t need to delete the first or one before it. I think that’s optimal.
It saves on each player checkpoint after naxx so if you do all raids and die, it is still saved. Or maybe it doesn’t save and if you die it resets to 0. If it doesn’t then that’s ultra hard mode.
Because players are avoiding each other out of fear and chickening for grouping up or doing dungeons or while questing. Why doesn’t blizzard beat this problem by just making the soul of iron buff have two ways to unlock ashbringer.
One is to do PvP and survive long enough for 1000 games on ALL 8 classes. And you can get a count on the buff of 1/1000. And if you fail you can reobtain the buff.
Or second one is you can pick the buff at level 60 and if you die with the
It also resets at first character and not forces you to relevel your first character because some people might not know about the buff before it’s too late and they might waste it when they are level 1. So to be fair. Make it that even after you die on your first character. You can rebuff the buff and get it again. You just need to unlock ashbringer by not dying on ALL 8 CLASSES.
It resets back to the first class. You have saved states. if you die anywhere from your 2nd to 8th different class character then if you had not died on your first and completed all raids (without afking) then you are saved on your first character. Or may be you’re not saved to your first character. But you can still get the buff again and start at 0 classes completed.
So it’s very hard and only some people can get it.
We would need to get corrupted ashbringer as well on the warrior hunter or paladin you want the ashbringer unlocked. So there’s two things you need to do. You would do this after the soul of iron buff challenge of completing all raids without dying.
You get the corrupted ashbringer. Take it to highlord Fairbanks. Go to the outland by cloning your 60 with the corrupted ashbringer. Speak to whoever Fairbanks wanted you to speak with. And maybe return to Fairbanks. Or maybe not.
Maybe when you log back into classic you will have it.
In wowhead blizzard were mentioned that they were going to release ashbringer after mages got atiesh. And they forgot.
Blizzard should give the soul of iron buff some more meaning.
And No one can meta irritate you because if they die once then it will take weeks before they get to 60 again and then you would of done many raids by then.
Oh ffs, a temporary title during the current SoM isn’t going to crash the sky into the earth. Lighten up, it’s supposed to be fun. You know, kinda like a game.
That said, I’m doing it just because.
