just like the title says.
depends
going any higher than a 12+ you run into the same problem as before: we’re entirely too squishy and lack hp/defensives. but you do more dps which is nice in lower keys
in the raid its… less of an issue but you’re still extra stress on the healers
Warrior is still a liability in groups.
Is the damage improved? Yes. You still aren’t ANYWHERE close to the meta specs like frost dk, much less a ret paladin that can slap his fat fingers on his keyboard and top meters.
We still bring zero noteworthy utility. Still have the lowest hp pool (seriously, when did warriors start having less hp than casters). Still get punished the hardest by melee unfriendly mechanics. The list goes on
Its not so much a step in the right direction as we’ve at least turned to face the direction we want to be going in
How is fury squishy when it has the 2nd highest hp after DK (and probably lock ?) with 3s defensive cd, 20s spell reflect ?
maybe you missed the part where op asked about Arms, not Fury
Oh you are right, but still with extremely short def cds. Warrior is anything except squishy.
what are you basing that on exactly?
arms by a large margin has the highest overall death rate in the mythic raid. fury isn’t far behind. this indicates that it is if anything else squishy and has lackluster defensive options. contrast this for example to ret paladin with multiple immunity options then well, you get the idea.
m+ is as far as im aware impossible to quantify (at least via wowlogs) but i’m assuming based on my own experiences and that of other warriors that it’s probably around the same.
feel free to provide some evidence to the contrary
Post buff Arms is in an alright spot PvE wise having solid builds for both Raid and M+, as for PvP you’re still going to largely be at the whim of your healer’s IQ level in Solo Shuffle.
The issue is mostly if we’re on target we’re fine since our defensive kit requires somewhat being offensive at the same time (Impending victory needs to be in melee range). Raid bosses this tier generally have moments where you’re picked with a debuff that needs to go elsewhere and priority healing is a lot more rough now than it was previously due to healer design right now being so awful in actual triage situations since they’re mostly just smart heals that may or may not heal you at all.
If I’m on target I’m one of the last to die most of the time, If I’ve had to go off target and require priority healing due to a debuff those are the moment where your life is in the hands of the healer, even dying through d stance.
It’s also no help at all that healers have been conditioned to rely on these smart heals and not really utilising their targeted options for those moments where they’re better suited for.
In keys, it’s much of the same stuff really with proper usage of impending victory, d stance and health pot I’m rarely the first one down, but during moments where burst damage happens where healers need to prioritise targets and nothing is up are the spicy moments where you’re hoping the healer isn’t asleep at the wheel.
Although totally have pulled agro from a pre prepped Collat Cleave and demolish follow up when tanks aren’t properly establishing threat on a new pack and have gone splat because parry wasn’t available .
With some tanks I only pre-prep ColCleave if I would have Intervene-DbtSed anyways. If they somehow hold threat, I’ll mit it anyways. If they don’t, I’ve got tanking covered entirely until DbtS is down, and Shadowmeld or Howl-Leap can take over from there. Or, you know, until a second uninterrupted nuke spell targets tank (temporarily me)… RIP. >.>
lol arms might be the squishiest melee in the game
Me as Arms, typical pull with Prot Pally on dungeon bosses.
Pally, throws ping pong shield, drops consecrate. Me, Charge, Thunder Clap, Cleave, Thunderous Roar, I die.
Hahahah Its funny because I’ve seen this happen multiple times with my paladin tank and arms friends during our runs
always has been
