The World of Warcraft ADDON’S are only helpful to those that use the one like the Deadly Boss Mod when they are dungeons and raids to see how much threat the bosses have on a matter of threatening abilities. The ADDON’S whether you got them on curse or twitch which ever one that is being used now to download the ADDON’S to World of Warcraft is the biggest virus bringer to the game and can make it where your account can be hacked by someone regardless if you have the device that you use to put that World of Warcraft Code in to make it more of a challenge for people to hack your game and change your password on you so that you can’t get into the game to play. ADDON’S hurt the game play more then it does help it. Then blizzard has to find away to fix the mess up you did with the ADDON’S. I use to them but I don’t anymore because someone somehow got ahold of my account information and changed my password on me and I had to go through the trouble of changing my password information then remove the ADDON’S from the ADDON list in game and remove curse from my computer so that I didn’t have to deal with some bone headed nerd that was up to no good so that my account wouldn’t ever get hacked again.
Nice block of words you’ve got there. Lots of uninformed opinions too.
Pro Tips:
Don’t run *.exe files if you don’t trust the source. (Never chose the express option.)
You don’t need to validate your account details, ever.
MalwareBytes (Free Trial) is easily a Top5 thing on the internet.
You can now save whatever the cost of an anti-virus subscription is.
Also, AddOns/Mods support is the single best feature to any video game. Fine-tuning your experience to your needs is simply amazing. Also, the default UI is crap and I like my heavily customized Shadowed_UF with WeakAuras to make me a better player, raid leader, as well as learn coding at my own leisure.
Hear hear!
Sounds like addons happened in addon mode.
Don’t like addons, don’t use addons. I didn’t for years and I was holding myself back terribly and deeply regret it.
But hey, you do you.
Look, I agree with you there, but Blizz is not updating the default UI so people turn to addons. It’s difficult to visually determine space between players for fights , so players use DBM or whatever. It sucks but you have to in order to be on the same playing field.
I’m proud to say that I use addons. Without them, I don’t know how much longer I would be playing this game. DBM & GTFO have saved my butt as a tank for the past few years (DBM nearly a decade). I recently discovered WeakAuras, and while I don’t necessarily need all the info I receive, knowing how much longer my bone shield will last being nearly in the middle of my screen is the ultimate QOL improvement.
Sounds like you got phished, and want to blame it on curse.
@Sneakisneaki maybe uniformed opinions but they are my uniformed opinions I don’t have to justify how I feel about the ADDON’S to anyone else that plays World Of Warcraft. Besides if I want to know the the way the raids are I can watch the way it is on Youtube I don’t need an ADDON to know how to do a raid. Besides when I get to my required item level with any of my toons. I usually do the world quests or pvp. And out of extreme boredom I will go and run the raids again if I got nothing better to do. Or if I get bored of pvp or the world quest.
Addons have been a thing for over a decade. They haven’t ruined the game. And your unique experience isn’t the norm. I’ve been using Curse for over a decade with zero issues. In over a decade, the people I know across three servers have never gotten a virus or anything from addons.
Please pay more attention to what you’re downloading and clicking on.
Besides I know not everyone is gonna agree with my opinion on this but that is what it is.
It’s okay to have a different opinion. Respectfully, AddOns improve the quality of players who utilize them.
I refuse to tank without TidyPlates:ThreatPlates. I can’t really DPS to my full potential without WeakAuras providing me information. And my Unit Frames /UI is tailored to my needs, being able to adjust the distance my eyes travel, reducing squinting, and providing better information help my health by reducing the strain on my eyes.
I likely would have quit in WOTLK is not for some addons.
OP - are you trying to communicate… something?
I’m confused. The addon’s what?
Ever since I started playing the game I wondered why WoW didn’t just incorporate the most famous add ons that players use on a regular basis such as TomTom. I’m not looking all over Azeroth when I can use an add on that uses coordinates. So why is Blizzard allowing add ons if they cause so many problems? Why not put add ons like TomTom and Deadly Boss Mod in the game so we don’t need add ons or take risks? Blizzard is responsible… opening their game to outside attacks with add on features.
because they don’t.
They don’t. They are heavily sandboxed and can’t do anything that Blizzard doesn’t want them to do. They are basically written in the same scripting language that Blizzard created the UI in to begin with.
Addons make the game playable for me. They place everything I need to see front and center. Bare minimum is Bartender, Z-Perl, and Weakauras.

And, the button layout matches my keypad.
If addons were completely disabled, I wouldn’t play the game.
You do you. But leave my gameplay alone.
