I’m still pretty new to the game about almost 2 months of playing mainly on the Dragonflight expansion I am pretty much at the ‘end game’ part where mythic+ is where I should go to get the best items, but I feel there is odd things about it than the normal dungeon finder, I hate the fact it’s forcing you to be social and awkwardly wait for healer and tank especially, don’t even get me started on the part where you try to join ones made by other people, people are obnoxious af of letting me in it’s either they are blind to see my sign up until it expires or just decline for ‘just cuz’ and they can just kick you if you don’t look “good enough” level wise if better leveled are signing up I liked it better with dungeon finder just being quick and getting the loot, I could care less if low leveled people join my mythic dungeons I just want the loot
Sounds like a git gud situation to me. Make your own group and use punctuation.
creative “answer” from a veteran player I suppose
Being that you are only two months in (welcome to the best game ever made!) I can understand why you are confused as to what’s happening and try to give you some insight.
I’ll first say I’m assuming you aren’t tanking or healing based off of the mention of that in your post, so I’ll go from there.
When someone lists a key, they are flooded with applicants. There is a score associated with your level of accomplishment so far and also an number (ilevel) representing the quality of gear you have in your bag. Both of these numbers are on display when you que up for a pre made group. It’s never “just cuz” if you get declined, and although annoying as it is that people can leave you pending for 5 minutes, a lot of players either don’t want to deal with the possible negative social interaction that sometimes happens from a quick decline or are just overwhelmed with applicants and like to weigh their options.
Waiting for a tank and healer is and always will be commonplace as there is only 1 spot for each of those roles Vs 3 DPS spots. Also, those two roles have historically been thankless jobs in a lot of cases and many people shy away from the pressure and ridicule that can associate with them.
Another issue is the key level. More-so now then ever, with a valor cap and vault rewards (look these up if you are unfamiliar with the terms) associated with key level changes you are getting the better players only queuing for higher and higher content every week, kind of leaving those that play casually in their progression behind. Healers right now are really sought out, I would recommend switching to healing to build score and gear your character any way you like. Ultimately you can switch back to DPS after you have made some friends and gotten more experience.
If you don’t like “having to be social” you can most definitely get by but I would highly recommend a different kind of game - although I would really encourage you to embrace the social aspect of the game as it makes it so much more fun to play that way.
I would’ve given you an answer if you had listed a question. I gave you a response to your long winded complaint. I don’t understand what you’re complaining about other than “it takes a long time to get into groups.”
As a new player, if you’re confused you should be more specific about what your problems are if you want actual help. I had to read your post 4 times to even try to comprehend where your sentences start and stop.
You’ve also been playing the game for 2 months, and you’ve playing a hero class. Which means there are hundreds upon THOUSANDS of other people playing the same class, at a higher skill level. Not only that, evoker isn’t even the top of the ladder - even as a hero class it’s outperformed by other classes.
Also now that I’m actually awake I can kind of comprehend the original post?
You MUST be level 70 to do a mythic dungeon.
Why do you feel people should take you instead of anyone else that applies? Or are you under the impression you’re the only person apply to other folk’s keys and they’re just ignoring you specifically?
It’s not personal, you’re just experiencing competition for group slots. You can increase your chances of getting into groups by doing some of the following:
- Be a tank
- Be a healer
- Be a meta dps spec
- Have exceptionally high ilvl for the key level
- Have exceptionally high m+ score for the key level
- Have both exceptionally high ilvl and m+ score for the key level
If none of those sound appealing to you then there are two other ways to increase your ability to run keys:
- Join a guild/group that runs keys
- Run your own key
If none of that sounds appealing to you then you can:
- Just keep trying until you make a breakthrough in ilvl and/or m+ score
- Play a different game
I don’t feel like grinding a tank right now as in for healer as well I can not really good at being responsible for my group I have a pretty good build I followed online my ilvl for mythic plus just surpassed 1000 my key level is 9 since around that level is where we usually don’t fail, but my valor is nearly capped I don’t even know why valor is capped I think it’s just stupid that way, if pvp will be mentioned I have a feeling it’s the no go zone where toxicity is as well as having to be fast with controls I mostly click to use my abilities
Valor was never intended to be a major path for gearing. It was only meant to upgrade select, hard to obtain, pieces of gear like trinkets.
You are supposed to gear from end-of-dungeon drops as you progress to higher and higher keys, from the vault, and from crafting. The fact that you can get multiple 418 crafted gear is OP.
Dear God… ![]()
We killed god, all 4 of them! (allegedly)
this is what gave you away as a very obvious troll. no new player would have a comprehension of valor. go away
no I don’t think I will, but luckily this wasn’t my childhood game otherwise ide be more handicapped I feel bad for you
Yeah, don’t what to tell you bro, that’s what it’s for. The game was built around team play.
The thing is, back in the day, the ONLY endgame PvE content was raids. You had to join a guild and log in to raid on a set schedule every week with the same group of 40 people. Typical raid schedules were 2-3 hours a day for 2 to 3 days a week.
Over time they lowered the required number of people for raid from 40 to 25 and then eventually to 10 minimum. At the same time, they started creating some “end game” dungeons that were a bit more difficult than standard dungeons but not quite up to the level of raids. Dungeons were more of a stepping stone or filler content with raids still being the only true end game.
Eventually, in Legion, they came up with the idea of M+. These were not just filler to have something to do before you got into the true end game, but were designed to be a replacement for raiding for small teams or groups of friends who couldn’t or didn’t want to lock themselves into a set weekly 6 to 9 hour raid slot. But they were still designed to be team based and intended for groups who know each other. They CAN be pugged, especially at lower key level, just like some raid bosses CAN be pugged, but that’s just a lucky happenstance based on the playerbase being experienced and good enough.
If you don’t like that M+ and raids require socialization and pre-made groups, but still want “end game” gear, LFR exists. Or PvP. Or you could do Primal Storms, or farm renown, or hunt rares, or do the Wrathion/Sabellian quests. Or you coule skip the gear grind altogether and focus on pet battles. Or transmfog farming. Or crafting and playing the AH. There’s lots of content you can do to get gear if you just don’t like the design of endgame team based PvE.
Whenever i make groups for m+ I do a few things
-
I set the ilvl and rating requirements to something comparable to my own. This ensures that im getting people that know what their doing.
-
I make sure the comp is proper like including a lust and other classes with utilities that may be needed for said dungeon.
-
I try to be a very nice host these people are helping me complete my key they deserve to not be treated like crap.
Many times you arent being invited because of reason 2 your class has nothing more to offer the group so they look for a different class.
Most folks will just let people sit in the sign up q because they are waiting on better options. Nothing can really be done about that. To avoid that using your own key qould be the thing to do though it can seem awkward waiting for a healer or tank is to be expected so those other 2 dps prob dont mind because they too want the dungeon to go well amd prob dont mind waiting.
“Hey you big dumb bear, run face first into the depths of limitless magical pain and put up your stupid strong spiky hair so we don’t die. And if you even THINK about asking me for a heal, you’re wrong buddy. You’re here to eat dirt and crap out aggro. If every single keybind isn’t thrash you’re kicked.”
Thank you sir Sol for the generous advice I will be the best guardian druid
