Don’t go around kicking people like about me i have to go afk sometimes for necessities it is common to take a break from the game if you wanna know.
Then say something before going AKF and you wont get kicked. It’s really easy.
Not that common in grouped instances to be honest… yeah, take a break - on your own time.
I don’t know why, but this thread reminded me of a past experience I had of a player in my group needing to go “AFK”
Random player: “BRB I GOTTA SAVE MY GOLDFISH FROM MY CAT”
Everyone else in group: …
Stop joining groups if you have to afk, you deserve to catch that kick.
it’s also common to do what you have to between ques so you’re not wasting 4-19 other peoples time
That’s what a poop sock is for.
Ugh. Amateurs.
If you go afk and you don’t say you’re going afk, you’re definitely getting kicked. Not everything is about you. You’re wasting 4 other people’s times by going afk.
Don’t que if you cant pew pew.
It’s not the end of the world to go afk for a short time, but don’t count of people’s patience lasting too long.
My friends and I used to say stupid things like that during BC to get out of raids and stuff. We thought we were so funny. “I gotta go mow my lawn” “Isn’t it like 3 AM there…?”
take your breaks before you queue.
^This is a legit excuse. I would definitely wait until they saved the fish.
Really, every group I’ve been in has been stingy with the kicks. I don’t know why the forums are always complaining like kicks are happening every 15 seconds. I’ve been in groups that had players get DC’d, and we waited five minutes or longer to see if they’d come back. Maybe I’ve just been super lucky, but kicks really haven’t been an issue in the groups I’ve joined.
Most groups are stingy. Most queable content is so trivial that I feel pretty bad kicking someone. If you hear a player complain that they’re frequently being kicked I guarantee it’s something that player is doing.
Before queuing for group content, make sure you have the time set aside to focus entirely on that content. Take your bathroom break, get your drinks, walk the dog… whatever before you queue. If there’s a genuine emergency and you have to go afk (and you’ll be gone for more than a few minutes, or aren’t sure how long it will be), apologize and explain to the group, then leave it so they can get a replacement. If you’ll only be gone a few minutes, tell the group. Most will be okay with a short wait.
If you go AFK give us a heads up. Most of the time it’s easier just to wait it out than find a new player so if you communicate people tend to wait.
ok so I don’t get kicked all the time but its happened a couple times in island expeditions. both times were because I didn’t go with the group. I was active and most likely more successful than the other two characters. I understand its better to be grouped up and usually I do. for one reason or another I didn’t in those two instances. after being kicked you get the deserter debuff prohibiting you from queing for anything for half an hour. that’s a lot of my playtime. for what? because I didn’t play the way someone else wanted me to? I don’t really care that I got kicked but the debuff isn’t helping anyone. does it give some small bit of vengeance to the other vote-kicking players? what is the purpose? I filed a ticket and was told basically that’s just how it is and if I have a realy problem with it I should post to the forums. is that really how the process works? what a cop-out. I suggest a change in the debuff at the very least. a thirty minute ban is over the top at the least. I hope this at least gets viewed by someone from blizz and maybe changes something.
You’re not supposed to be AFK in BGs and such. If youre going to afk, make it quick or leave whatever it is yourself so you’re not holding your team back.
I had a friend who used to afk every 15 minutes to smoke. I stopped grouping with him.
