Seems there was a lot of manufactured outrage over this. So here’s what I’m going to do about it… I am going to earn Dottie from the Twitch drop and I’ve donated $20 to Make a Wish.
Who wants to join me? Let’s make this an unofficial charity pet again…

Well… here’s hoping every one is just donating too and not commenting about it
While I can see some people getting a little upset about Dottie now being a “free” pet there is some reasoning behind it.
It was made as a Charity Donation and if Blizz wants to do another charity drive, they would need a new pet as the people who previously donated would (potentially) want a new pet, but as Dottie was the current one they wouldn’t be rewarded for the donation as they already have her.
I look at her and her previous owners as them simply donating to get access to her before everyone else (similar to the CCG Loot Cards, you paid to have them long before everyone else could get them).
what outrage? lol ppl u should be happy by the fact u donated to a cause. the pet is a bonus.

I’m pretty certain that each time they do a charity drive, they release a new pet for it instead of re-using the same one so the cycle tends to go:
Pet appears in shop where proceeds go towards charity. Sometimes with an upper limit so if they reach that goal the remaining profits return to Blizzard. Uncertain if they have reached those limits in the past but it was a point of a different outrage before.
After donation event is complete, pet either becomes unobtainable or remains in the shop as a standard pet.
Considering the donation event is long over for Dottie, it’s just a standard pet now.
It was one troll who made stuff up and people fell for it. The whole thing was ridiculous.
People can’t be mad about Dottie when every pet that was used for charity is the same way. It’s nonsensical.

There’s zero reasoning or logic behind it.
I donate once and get Dottie. I want to donate a second time, let’s say a year later, and I cannot because the shop recognizes I have Dottie so it prevents me from buying it a second time.
Reason AND logic enough for charity events to have different pets and after x amount of time there is no reason NOT to sell/give the previous ones away. Hell they could have made Dottie and the others a BMAH drop and no one would bat an eye… especially for something that is ultimately a niche part of the game (pet battles) with no real impact on gameplay.
