Finally read the book, and there was a puzzling scene in it: while talking to Sira Moonwarden, a purple energy thing swirls around the king’s arm and he has a anxiety attack, horrified someone noticed, and Sira chuckles “you will serve well.”
Does anyone know what this is about? Or is it a future plot line?
It is just Blizzard setting up Anduin to be the balance in the cosmic powers so he can lead the crusade against the Light, Void Lords, etc.
You know typical stuff for Blizzard since they have a hard on for Human Potential, especially when it comes to the Wrynn family.
I’d rather Anduin just be killed off in Shadowlands so the Alliance can get development beyond the Wrynnsm something that has been lacking since Varian came into the picture and was elected High King.
No, that’s just awful. Characters shouldn’t just be killed off just because you don’t like their development. I’d rather them actually develop a character completely and actually have a place in the story. Anduin’s no different. He has a lot of potential to add to the story if they use him right.
I bet it’s only a bait for Shadowlands, something to tie the story of Anduin “better” to the Shadowlands (the Expansion) and not much, if anything else.
The problem is, Anduin is like Sylvanas a black hole for story … he just sucks up everything and everything has to gravitate around him.
That is never good for a story.
In terms of Sylvanas we finall get rid of her, but Anduin is still that problem.
Turalyon on the throne who is no stupid high king, is in my opinion, a better slution since it means the Alliance is again more or less a military organisation not a world gouvernemnt.
So in order to prevent Anduin comming back to claim the throne he has to somehow die unfortunately as he is the rightfull owner of said throne.
It is better for the story overall.
I’m starting to think that they should just team up.
Sylvanas has plenty of situations in her life where the destiny beated her rather badly. And Anduin could have some sympathy for what she’s been through.
On top of that, he is actively using the light. And what the light does?
He has the potential to be rather strong, because of both the light and whatever this Goldrinn connection is. Now, the question remains, would he be able to go all-in for the light and not become corrupted? Would he be able to endure what would happen, if he sees a reason and pity for Sylvanas, just for a chance to mend her soul?
It might sound silly at first, but this whole Sylvanas x Anduin story-wise seems plausible. He has just the right skills to complement her, and she has at least some events in her life that elevate her a bit above just a villain level. And as an added bonus they would be off screen for a while lol
I disagree. He’s NOTHING like Sylvanas and never will be.
And frankly, that’s just your biased perception and not realistic.
Not if he returns to a splintered Alliance and a divided Windstorm.
Might result in Turalyon being, not so much villianbatted, but at least tarnished.
But I don’t like him much anyway.
I was so happy to see him return in Legion, I noted it has one of the few good things in that entire expansion because I was wanting to see him and Alleria return ever since BC. But he became something of a massive douche. Making him into a misguilded villain would be an improvement.
At the end of the novel, Anduin loses his temper and a tendril of dark energy escapes from his hand, leading everyone around him to be shocked. We learned that the author was explicitly told by Blizzard that he should reach for dark energy during this scene. Although she has limited information and isn’t sure what type of magic Anduin exactly wields, it was definitely deliberate on Blizzard’s part, and could be a setup for more things to come.
Anduin had been smashed by an enchanted bell that’s led to his body fighting against him, this tendril is potentially the dev team being consistent with the king’s condition.
After Anduin’s injury from the Divine Bell, Anduin would only receive aches in his bones when he was being cruel, thoughtless, or courting danger; Anduin believed these warning signs to be the Light guiding him. Since he felt no pain from his body, he thought it safe to share with the multi-factional priests of the Conclave the discovery of Azerite.
(Commentary): The most cringe thing about Turalyon since his return has been that he became a Draenei weaboo. When you divorce him from Draenei stuff he actually comes off as an experienced Paladin archetype. In one of the novels he speaks to Anduin about the Light and mentions how it’s important not to be blinded by it, but to continue to think for yourself. He loves his wife dearly, and supports her even though she’s neck deep in powers that are the antithesis of his own, etc…
(Commentary): Hardly seems an unreasonable action. A powerful entity of the Light is destroyed while you’re on the Legion’s homeworld, drastically curtailing the available firepower you have to throw at the demons. I mean, Xi’ri at the Black Temple can vaporize small armies of demons periodically. Who knows what Xe’ra could’ve done?
More so … this was Turalions first reaction … and then even though basically his GOD was slayn by a demon right before his very eyes he was reasoned with and even continued working with said demon.
Turalyon is probably the most reasonable and thoughtfull character in the story currently.
Pretty much this but in overdrive. He comes off as the worst kind of Paladin, so sure of his conviction to the light. Comes across as sanctimonious and self righteous.
Honestly, I’d take Wyrmbane as a Paladin Archetype over Turalyon.
