Abnormally high ping only in WoW

For the past couple weeks, I’ve had abnormally high ping in WoW and ONLY WoW. Steam, other MMOs, even other Blizzard games, all never above 30-35ms. In WoW I’m sitting at 175ms for world and home, sometimes one of them will spike to about 300. I’ve tried all the basic stuff like power cycling my router and modem, releasing and refreshing my ip etc., despite only having issues in WoW (I’ve even run several games at once in different windows, it’s still only WoW with the high ping while the others remain at about 30-35ms). I googled which ports to forward for WoW, but I can’t find anything official looking so I’m not sure if that’s even worth bothering with. I contacted my isp and they told me they don’t throttle anything. My only addon is elvui, and just to be sure I tried disabling it, same result.

Any help here would be appreciated, I’ve been spoiled for too long by fiber and living too close to some of the largest server farms in the country. Anything over 70ms feels like absolute butt to me.

edit: figured I would be a little proactive

Open a ticket with the staff. Looks like their peering partner, Level3, is having some lag issues. Unfortunately, need to wait for Blizz and Level3 to work it out.

Thank you for the quick reply. I don’t mind having to wait for it to be fixed, just happy to know it’s not on my end.

Any idea if this is even on Blizz’s radar? I’m also dealing with the same issue.

No issues are showing up in that test. 46ms is the max ping and completely acceptable

I made a ticket and got a response and they told me there’s nothing wrong with their peering partners and to basically go through all of the steps I already did, redo all the tests and submit fresh text files despite them still showing the exact same thing. I can tell they’re desperate for it to be on my end and not theirs, but it just flat out isn’t on my end. Maybe if enough people have the problem they’ll actually figure out what the issue is and fix it. Until then, I’m just playing other games. Dragonflight is Blizzard’s last chance with me, but if I can’t even play it at a first world ping while being on fiber and physically under 300 miles from the server, I just won’t even bother at that point.

heaps of people have been complaining about the high latency for a week now. It pisses me off that they just say it’s all of us when it’s clearly THEIR issue. I’ve NEVER had high latency before now I can’t do the content I want to do because I’m lagging out over 3k - it’s unplayable and not fun.

Unacceptable language aside, if thousands are online playing on the server that is being blamed, does it make sense to keep blaming the server?

Bro I don’t care what you think about my “unacceptable” language nor is anyone blaming 1 server. We just want to play an enjoyable game and not have to deal with ridiculous ping. Instead all we get is iT mUsT bE A yOu PrObLeM.
