It's affecting US servers too, even outside BFA zones.
About an hour ago, some serious lag started happening and hasn't gone away.
It isn't same as the Oceanic situation unless your home/world ms is completely normal, as is your latency while you experience lag doing anything like mining, herbing, lootting, fighting (when the mobs are totally unaffected).
If its not as described then its a different issue.

Pretty tired of it really. I'm already bored of this expansion and tired of putting up with the massive amount of bugs. People joke about "Beta for Azeroth" but the reality is it's actually true. This is not a live release, it is bug ridden and incomplete. I haven't seen anything this bad in a long time.
I thought some Arathi quests last night might keep me going, but shockingly the lag was so bad a non-elite elemental almost killed me while trying to get my 20 for the quest. I logged off.
I think that will soon change from logging off to un-subbing.
7:51am brisbane Australia , and there is a 3 second lag in Nazmir, what happened to it being stable off peak.
What even is off peak anymore
Is this ever going to be fixed? Blizzards attitude to this issue is beyond a joke now, this has been going on since day one of BFA.
Had some super gross lag in Nazmir today... Unsurprisingly there's a world boss with lots of random grouping going on there lol. Unfortunately everywhere else still had just standard gross lag.
No point being on a oceanic realm then when you play arenas you get queued with 400+ ping.
does matchmaking take into account the latency?
cant you just do region based matchmaking? like oceania players only get matched with singapore/aus/nz/west coast?

I doubt it. People keep pouring money into wow, so why fix anything.
Every other mmo is fine, then log into wow. Despite my normal home latency of around 30. In-game goes skyrocketing into the hundreds on a regularly basis.

You aren't lying, it's only been happening to me since last weekend, but it's essentially the same, my home ms is low, 40ms or so and world ms jumps from 80 to 300ms like nothing, and even when it's saying it's 80ms I'm still getting input lag, abilities delayed. It's ruining the game almost entirely for me.
And I for one, very rarely complain, let alone post on the forums. But the fact blizzard keeps saying the same damn thing to anyone who posts about this, is actually infuriating. Especially when some players are not having the same problems at all. Which really brings up the question, WTH is going on here?
No, it will not be fixed any time soon. Needs investment, technical knowledge and the willingness.

Nothing has been said about this sharding/lag issue, which is a big problem that the dev should be concerning more. I guess this issue is of low priority for them to fix. Don't get your hope up, this issue is not going to get fixed soon (tm), and I will remain unsub until they fix it.
The year was 1996. Bulletin board systems' popularity was on the decline as the proliferation of the WWW spread.
Not everybody abandoned the BBS scene. Mateships were forged over years and people didn't want to leave their communities. Other people didn't see the need to abandon them for the WWW - after all, BBS could be found and dialed locally, often with no access fees other than the flagfall + local rates, as opposed to an ISP with flagfall+local/national rates+ISP fees.
A small BBS in Sydney offered Id software's latest FPS - Quake not too long after the Shareware release. It had been downloaded from an FTP server in New Zealand I believe. Being the followup to Doom and Doom II, it was a hotly anticipated title. Users dialed in and got their shareware copy.
However - disaster struck one morning. A thunderstorm had taken out the power, and on top of that, left the garage marginally flooded. Of course, it was a hobby service and no fees were taken, but a duty was felt to provide the userbase with the game they craved and the social interaction they wanted.
The solution? Pick up the aging IBM Clone running a 486SX @ 33MHz, the Banksia modem (recently upgraded!), the !@#$ heavy monitor, the two external FDDs and assorted other components and took them to another house - with a completely different phone number.
With all necessary configurations made, word was spread through the magic of telephone that the number had been temporarily changed. Of course, this was no good for people using the trusty BBSFNSW.txt or other dial lists until the next issue was released, but to the main userbase, it worked. People got their copy of Quake. People played Trade Wars and left their messages. Files were uploaded and good times were had. The new number soon became its permanent home until the BBS was shut down in 1997, with the community and service having moved to the Internet instead.
The point of the story?
Two blokes running a hobbyist community service did a better job wanting to ensure their user base was happy, satisfied and able to access their service properly than a multi-billion dollar company accepting $16.50 AUD per month are able to with an army of skilled personnel, proper NetOps and all the other goodies that come with it.
Shame on Blizzard.
3 second+ loot lag last night in Warfronts. I get that it's a busy place but this is unacceptable this far into launch. It's still laggy out in the world too so it's not localised to Arathi. My wife and I are cancelling our subscriptions this cycle. Was hoping it would've improved by now but clearly Blizzard has given up caring, so we will do the same.
Nearly 2 full months into the launch of the expansion, and this sharding/server lag is still an issue. It doesn't matter what time of the day I log in, I still encounter it every single time. It really has taken away any enjoyment I had while playing the game. I keep hoping that it will be addressed properly and fixed soon, but I'm definitely not holding my breathe.
My ping is usually around 80ms. During peak times it will go up to around 120 (world and home), but the lag is much greater.
If I queue and enter a dungeon or BG, my world ping will jump to around 250 and keep climbing while I'm inside. I've completed a dungeon with 3000ms before. Home ping doesn't change.
Dungeons are unplayable. Open world stuff is laggy but playable, but i get annoyed with it after a while and have to log out.
I haven't been able to push any kind of challenging content this expansion. Very disappointing.
I live in Texas and play mostly on Turalon and Scarlet Crusade. This has been happening since BFA launch. It is in all zones.
My latency shows as normal both home and world, which for me is between 40 and 60. But I'm getting severe lag between pressing a button and something happening. At times I consider it unplayable and just log out. I play mostly with warmode off and this happens both ways, off and on.
The fact that my latency shows normal but everything is acting as if my latency were high is what is confusing. Granted I am getting more high latency spikes than normal, but most of the time my latency is low.
It isn't just a delay between abilities when I'm fighting something on my character. There are really bad delays when I click on an NPC whether it's a vendor or a quest giver. There are delays when I'm fishing between my clicking on the bobber and the fish going into my bag. There are delays when I'm gathering with the herb/ore/skin going into my bag.
I see the blue saying this is affecting Oceanic servers. It is affecting all servers not just Oceanic. I don't know if sharding is the issue, you would think at this point they would know what's causing it, however it kind of seems like they really don't.
I have to say that this has been a large factor in my deciding to not continue playing this game.
ppl donât realise the issue blue acknowledged in this post is nothing with visual UI ping displayed on screen.
If u happen to see ur ping jump up then u should open a ticket, itâs not related to this post.
Also if u just complain ur phasing to other server than ur own server ur ping jump up, u should consider to open a new post too, itâs nothing to do with this post.
This post is about ur home and world ping does NOT change, but u feel the loot and cast lag. Also u NOT phasing to other server or dungeon, because most the complains r world content, whit SOLO, also warmode OFF.
I had no lag until a few days ago. Now my latency slowly climbs to around 1000 and becomes unplayable. Contacted ISP and ran tests. Everything else runs fine it aint my net. The Issue is WoW.
P.S. Sometimes my latency shows normal but I have the same massive ability lag. I've nearly died many times to lag spikes.

Hey everybody - we're still on this. We've gotten some reports that toggling War Mode may work around the issue for some by causing people to re-shard. This will of course not work for everyone at all times, but it's something you can try while experiencing the issue. Let us know if it helps you.
Please keep in mind that we do not consider this a long term fix, as we understand that some people will rather play in War Mode or in non War Mode. You can try simply toggling to the opposite mode (non WM -> WM or vice versa) or toggling to the opposite mode, then back. I have no confirmation that toggling back and forth will change anything, but for those who do not prefer one mode, this is something you can try.
