Ability/Loot Lag on Oceanic Servers Despite Normal Latency

I think most people aren't bothering with the Winmtr, because 1. It's blatantly obvious that it's not an issue on our side of the connection. And 2. Winmtr is an out-dated program that's not even compatible with windows 10. So it's redundant to even mess with it. You can flood the forums with winmtrs if you like, but they don't read them. It's basically just them wasting time with a tactic they know is pointless.

Also the 50ish winMTRs in this thread compared to the tens of thousands of people playing on Oceanic realms is a horribly small amount of data, hence they are asking for more, it's literally less than 0.01% of people.

Oh you sweet summer child, you actually believe it has anything to do with network issues? I have this bridge I'd like to sell to you, barely used, great value.
I’m no network engineer. Considering the perfect latency reported by the game I’ve assumed this not to be a problem with connection in either direction. My layman’s interpretation is that game server is sending and receiving packets of information just fine, but the server is having trouble processing tasks at some level and so it is taking a while to actually send actionable information to the client. Though if this is the case I feel like Blizzard would be able to see this in performance monitoring so maybe not?

Anyhoo, I hope it gets resolved. It’s quite painful.

Every time you join a group that moves you across shards previously you'd have a lag issue where pressing spells wouldnt cast until the transfer finished, when its peak period the lag feels exactly the same as this except constantly haha. Server having to shard balance too much prehaps?

Yet I use Win 10 and winmtr works :p

It may be a small amount in comparison to the whole, but even a small amount should be enough to tell them something. I mean, what do they want, every player on Oceanic to do one of these? We all know that won't happen.

They have to work with what they have, including things we don't have access to. And they have had 2 weeks to do that. I'm trying to imagine how any normal commercial company relying on decent internet function would cope if their techs weren't able to fix an issue of this nature in under 2 weeks...
I haven't logged in today, however I can only assume it will be lagville on Frostmourne right now :/
Lag has been coming and going on Saurfang in intermittent spurts. It'll be really bad for about 10 minutes then let up for around an hour or so. Not sure if that helps narrow down what it could be, but it's just my experience.
Not sure this is representative, will run another. [Ed. There was heavy lag while this test was run, at the mo it seems better]

Generally running at 2ms latency as I'm located in Sydney and on fibre, and also affected by these world side lag spikes on Nagrand / Caelestrasz.

I was just off for two weeks on leave and during the day it was perfectly fine and responsive, but once it hit about 2 - 3pm onwards it got painful in all zones.

Occasionally my reported latency will spike up to like 700ms for seemingly no reason, but doesn't seem to affect in game server lag, and a quick reboot of the client resolves that latency spike.

So to me it all appears to be server data processing.

Edit: Though it's perfectly fine in dungeons
Here's another WinMTR from tonight - the lag is even worse than it was last night. There is anywhere from 1-3 seconds delay after every ability used. I am literally pressing the ability, watching the GCD go around, then wait another second and THEN the ability triggers. In that time, whatever enemy I am fighting has damaged me by about 20%. Great gameplay.

WinMTR v0.92 GPL V2 by Appnor MSP - Fully Managed Hosting & Cloud Provider
The issue is not our connection to the game. The issue is the server cannot handle the tasks of X many people, and thus things like spell casts, loot are delayed from cast.

This posting of connection stuff is pointless. I don't know how we can go about reinforcing that it's not "Latency", more that there is significant delay in processes during the game. The server is just not keeping up, database/processing wise, with all the events happening on it. We are all connected fine.
Could be they are waiting to see what happens. They have underestimated server resource requirements and upping them would cost more... only for the population to dwindle after launch and they aren't making as much money.
This thread is uncapped now for continued posting all in the one spot.

...

They have said nothing for 10 days now.
They had all of last week and if anything, it has only been getting worse.

Err they commented yesterday https://us.battle.net/forums/en/wow/topic/20767557791?page=20#post-393 and seneral times inbetween.

I hate the issue going on but come on don't make stuff up based off the first blue post, atleast check all the others in the thread (and there has been several).

It's still being worked on.

Just because people are not posting their winMTRS does not mean it is not happening.

The fact that the people posting are from all different locations and different servers should tell them that it's not just 0.01% of people.

Blizzard are getting frustrated too as they are blocking related posts and getting snappy.

But still no fix. I feel like more people posting and talking about the issue should also tell them it's not a small minority.

I would getting frustrated and snappy too if my total incompetence and inability to effectively communicate kept being highlighted.

It is literally happening to everyone, but not everyone is reporting it, all you have to do is ask in General chat in any zone when the lag is happening and you get flooded with responses saying it is happening.
A lot of players are mentioning this problem in chat and when you reply that it is not just them, they are very surprised.
2:30 PM, not peak time, still happening...
Good to see the post limit has been lifted/increased.

I created a new thread after this one reached its cap, and there were a few Trace routes and WinMTR posted there that may be helpful so here is a link to that thread:

https://us.battle.net/forums/en/wow/topic/20767789044?page=1

Please do not keep posting in that thread however. Let's try to keep as many related reports in this thread instead.
Any possible update on when they're gonna fix this? Is it only Oceanic realms? I can't imagine what servers like Kel'thuzad or Darkspear are like if little old Khaz'goroth is struggling this much. None of us are going to be able to raid if it's not fixed before next Tuesday. Imagine how badly the Uldir servers are going to be lagging on the first day..
