Ability/Loot Lag on North American Servers Despite Normal Latency

yep same here…I’ve been getting this since the beginning of BfA but now seems much worse… normal latency around 30ms but spells all feel like have extra 500ms lag on them

Haven’t been here in a long time, are there actual Blizz techs in the forums that respond to issues?

Nah dude, Blizzard is a small indie company, not a huge multi billion dollar corporation. They cant afford to communicate with their players or fix a problem that’s been happening for over 4 months.

Ever since the patch I have been having massive lag issues. When mounting up my mount won’t appear for over a minute. You just see my character running. I can’t dismount right away. The mount will turn invisible, I will float and can’t attack. Another issue is quests. Bonus objectives take a couple minutes to show the progress. Same with regular quests. When try turning in quests I dont see my xp go up. It still says I have all the quests on the side of the screen when it also says I completed them in the chat box. When I walk back to my body and accept, my character is still in the spirit form as mobs attack me. I try to attack and it says I can’t because I am dead. But the NPCs were able to kill me.
There are several other issues relating to lag.

I am having the same issues and its literally unplayable. As a rogue or monk, combo points wont register either until after 2-3 seconds. Im glad it isnt just me, but this is getting bad.

Just going to toss in my two cents on this as well. Since the patch the lag on looting and doing pretty much anything is anywhere between 2 -4 seconds if not more. Presently just logged off in Loch Modan because my toon was doing spell animations but I wans’t gaining holy power and I kept getting a mounted error. Additionally, I rezed but my screen remained grey, showed that I had no hp, and mobs swarmed me and killed me. If I tried to use a skill, it said I was dead.

Not sure what’s going on Blizzard, but this blows atm.

I was having the invisible mount issue. Try this. Exit the game. Make sure your addons and gpu drivers are up to date. Go into your world of warcraft/retail folder and delete the cache folder. Relauch the game.

With this patch I’ve experienced many of the symptoms described (try flying when this is going on, you’ll swim between points). Hearthing to another continent or, sometimes, logging out and then back in clears this issue for a period of time, but when returning to the same area where the problem occurred it reappears. Disabling all addons during a session did not help. /reload does not change the behavior.

While this lag affects mounting and looting, for me, it does not appear to affect most other things. Perhaps it really is an addon conflict? I know many of mine have yet to update to 8.1. Disabling addons in session may not be enough. I have not tried playing a clean version of the game and am avoiding doing so. It would be hard to test while in combat without addons, they’re so integrated into my playstyle. Have any of you tried playing clean, with a fresh WTF and cleared addon folders?

Area that reliably triggers “bug”:
Vol’dun

Approximate time to occur while in combat:
10-20 minutes

Zone activity:
Incursions, increased PvP activity

My activity:
Farming / training

Tech context:

  • War Mode on
  • ~80 ms ping
  • 60-200 fps
  • Max FPS set to 200 or disabled
  • Display settings set to a minimum
  • No AA
  • Render Scale set to 50%, resulting in 1920 x 1080
  • Using DX12
  • Addons:
    • AdiBags
    • Dominos
    • ElvUI
    • GTFO
    • HHTD
    • kgPanels
    • Kui_Nameplates
    • Leatrix_Plus
    • Masque
    • ShadowedUnitFrames
    • Titan Bar
    • Others / Misc.
  • PC:
    • i5-4690K
    • GTX 1080, latest driver
    • 16GB memory
    • Windows 10 Pro 64 bit, latest updates

I am also experiencing lag and other related issues. One memorable moment on an alt was when I turned in a quest where the NPC is supposed to give you a ride to the bottom of the heart of darkness in Nazmir, upon which the NPC immediately flew off and left me standing there with a falling/flying animation.

Sometimes everything works fine, but at some point activating hot barred abilities, mounting, looting, and other activities have a significant delay of up to a few seconds. The zone doesn’t seem to matter (most recently Zuldazar and Tirisgarde Sound). At it’s worst, it’s nearly unplayable.

I’ve tried switching between dx11 and dx12, deleting cache, and rebooting the PC. I haven’t yet tried removing all mods, but frankly after the profession lag magically fixed itself after 8.1 dropped, I’m not real keen on going through all that again to find out it’s not my installation.

Also, I get the same thing on 3 different servers (Ysera, Zul’jin, and Rexxar.) My ping times look normal (around 30ms on Ysera and Zul’jin, around 75ms on Rexxar.)

edit: one other thing to add just in case it is helpful. After leaving combat when the delays begin(portrait not flashing red) it sometimes takes several seconds before i can mount up.

System:
i7-3820 3.6Ghz
16GB RAM
Nvidia GTX 1070 driver 417.35 (did same thing with .22)
Windows 10 Pro (1803 and upgraded to 1809 out of sheer hope it might change something)

Paladin abilities are not generating holy power, for some reason the holy power points appear AFTER combat.

Oh heres something fun: I was in the middle of combat with two random enemies and my HP bar was showing 75% + HP, but 3 seconds later i just dropped dead. Im guessing i lagged ?

im also experiencing the ghost mount problem. It seems to happen in the zones where the invasions are happening (getting a lot more than usual general lag while doing the horde invasions in boralus)

Well now I know it is not just me. The lag for me though is worse in combat…not a good time for lag. I issue a spell or using a melee weapon and there might be 2 or 3 seconds of lag. My latency is excellent (30-35) and FPS is over 100 so it has to be on the Blizz side. Hopefully this will be fixed as the game enjoyment is more of an endurance test…or test of frustration levels.

Same here. Malygos (for what its worth). Started doing the Assault today was first I noticed. Spell lag, loot lag. A mess. Then I recalled my daughter playing last night and when she mounted up in Pandaria the mount didn’t show and she was running through the air. Very messy. Fishing right now is painful as well. Click on bobber, 1-3 second pause, loot fish, hit fishing button…keep feeling pain.

So in addition to the other loot/mount/action bar/etc lag, I’m now experiencing guild chat lag and other guildies say they are experiencing the same. I’m not sure if these things are all related, but things do seem to be getting progressively worse.

Same problem here

I remember being able to play this game for the last 14 years or so without having these issues on a almost weekly basis.

Yeah, I’m tired of the typical in-game response: “computer sucks” and the forum response: “have you tried…”

It was running decent before the patch and now it is unplayable. I’m thinking it’s on Blizz’s side.

It happened again 20 minutes into farming world monsters in Vol’dun just now (after getting past current authentication issues). There was a slight delay, a pause to all input before loot/mount lag began. Could this be due to a shard balancing change? Or maybe only a few shards are affected? Meh, I know today is a poor day to pin any single issue down.

Note, I cleared my cache before today’s session started.

On the launcher they now have a message stating technical issues.

They will blame addons and your ISP as always, but the problem is 100% theirs.

I’m having the same issue and I’ve tried putting in a ticket, getting to live chat and getting a call on the issue with no success - I can’t even put in the request, the submit button is grayed out. It appears that they have disabled Contact Support pages and I have the tabs to prove it.
