It has been so bad on mine that I can’t even check the latency because it freezes up the entire computer (this is a brand new computer and only has Battlenet app on it, no addons). I keep having to force shut down my entire computer and restarting it. I tried resetting the UI, checking for repairs, updates…still working horribly!!
Since patch I have been having issues where the game gets “stuck” for 1-5 seconds and then catches up with me. My ping (Home & World) is sitting at around 70-75 and my connection is fine. I have changed all kinds of settings and nothing has changed. Any ideas?
Posted a thread about this on General, got no replies. I fear that the masses are simply content to accept rationalizations such as “well the zones have a lot of people in them” for this issue even though Legion basically never experienced this problem.
Turalyon is still an utter slideshow in terms of actions that the server will accept in Vale when Grand Empress is pulled. The experience is entirely unfun. Still no visible latency issues in home/world or in tests.
My biggest concern is that this issue will carry over into Shadowlands. If it does, I’m probably going to be driven away.
It was happening a lot on the launch of the new patch where lots of people were flocking to new content. It got bad enough that I could queue up selling ten items to merchants in Boralus and then wait 20+ seconds for them to slowly, so very slowly get sold one at a time.
This was happening back in Azsuna on the weekly reset when Withered Jim would be available for the unstable arcanocrystal. Now it is happening in various areas in BfA. What reason is there to believe it won’t be present in Shadowlands?
I’ve been having this issue all week. game unplayable. ability log sometimes 10+ seconds. load times of 1-2 min. can’t even do arena cause the lag is longer then prep time, so i dose not let me enter all. just says 2v2 “unknown” when i mouse over the eye after i try to join. zones with phasing (like all the nizoth content) are really bad. lag sometimes makes me time out of game with disconnects. i’ve got no add-ons going and tried re-down loading the game to no avail. what can i do to make the game playable again?
Experiencing a lot of input and loot lag even though latency is perfect at 12ms. Was killing mogu when it started, it was the first place I went in the zone so i havent been here long.

This only happens on peak hours, if i log in by morning, everything is fine on WM off.
This is excessive in the themed invasions, be it Vale, be it Uldum.
N`zoth invasion seems to not get this much lag in Uldum, but does get to a certain degree in Vale.
Same issue happened on Nazmir last week.
Getting MASSIVE lag. Worst I have ever seen it tbh. Can’t do anything in Vale right now on Proudmoore. 100 fps and 45 ms home and world. Something server side for sure.
Yep, I have never seen anything this bad ever and I’ve been apart of every expansion release day 1. I haven’t been to Vale on my main in about a week now and I’m forced to do it on a new alt, it’s painful and depressing to say the least.
Why is it that when I go to the assault in the Vale of Eternal Blossom, my computer and the game goes haywire? I deal with all kinds of lag, issues with picking up quests or completing things. It’s just a weird kind of lag and it only occurs in Pandaria. I have tried disabling addons and many other things. I’m not alone in this, because my wife and others have noted this issue.
So, this seems to be a problem across a multitude of OS’s and computers. I started the Channeling Lag thread in the Mac Support Forum. Many people were helpful. I’ve done all those things … even had AT&T change my router … to no long-term affect. It all started around May, during the Classic beta … right after the “reinvisioned” spell batching was implemented. No one is agreeing that is the cause … but no one is denying it, either.
Please add an option to disable “spell batching” to the System or System/Advanced window.
It’s very discouraging. WoW is one of the only games I enjoy … but I haven’t been able to play much recently due to the frustration. Thank you for keeping on this issue.
I also started seeing this occur in Kul Tiras and Zandalar, occasionally in combat when I use abilities or interact with something, everything stops, and animations will continue, I can still walk, but the ability or interaction never occurs. After a few seconds it resumes, and I take a large amount of damage from enemy attacks while I was lagging. This is really making the game hard to enjoy, and I am fed up that blizzard devs have done nothing so far. Anyone know of any fixes?
The lag in this expansion is above and behind, Blizzard really need to improve the server lag.
Still an issue with Turalyon. Tiragrade Sound lag just atrocious. Couple people from Moonrunner also reported in regarding it in General chat.
Honestly at this point I’d prefer Blizzard just disable sharding and return everyone to their home realms while they focus on a fix for the issue. I’d much prefer seeing less people around than the current state of unresponsive play.
Shadowlands launch will be completely unbearable if this persists.
Just started BFA questing, only had the chance so far to try drustvar, tiragarde, and zuldazar. Only Tiragarde Sound has this insane lag issue. It’s genuinely atrocious. Happens in bursts. Have a few seconds of clear gameplay, then a few more of characters looking angrily at eachother doing nothing in combat, and so on.
There is also lag similar to this in Gilneas while leveling a worgen character, but it is not as bad as in tiragarde sound. This is on Aerie Peak server
As of the pre-patch download that started around Wednesday 9/16 Boralus has been atrocious on Steemwheedle Cartel. a delay of 5 seconds or more per every NPC interaction while latency sits at 30ms.
Confirming this as an ongoing issue, in my case in Pandaria on Uldaman-US. My latency is below 50ms and my framerate above 100fps, but lag in abilities, looting, NPC responses, and the like is consistently present and often terrible and/or quest-breaking. Performance remains the same whether or not I’m running addons.

I have also seen an increase in the presence of this phenomenon since the pre-patch went live. The game pretty consistently becomes delayed in that a 50 ms latency feels more like a 250-350 ms latency connection. I’m not seeing my FPS drop, but rather I’m just twiddling my thumbs as I wait for the server to recognize an action was taken. This is with WinMTR showing no packet loss along the route and average latency around 35 ms or less at each hop.
Boralus is a good example of where it consistently lags when a lot of people are on. I think the most consistent example outside of that is any zone that has a 2000 gold emissary quest which became available that day. I wouldn’t be surprised if you could get good data of players hammering a zone or server by intentionally having a 2000 gold emissary in Boralus for Alliance and Zuldazar for Horde.
I spent a little time with the new Time Walking leveling feature in Warlords of Draenor, but I had to find an area that was not crowded. Shadowmoon Valley was lagged with a swarm of players all moving through the same content. This was compared to Vashj’ir, which was quite desolate with regard to players, being smooth as butter for latency.
Examples:
- Withered Jim in Asuna on the weekly reset back during Legion
- World bosses on the weekly reset (e.g. Grand Empress Shek’zara in Vale of Eternal Blossoms and Vuk’laz the Earthbreaker in Uldum both early in patch 8.3 when many wanted to kill them)
- Zones with emissary quests for 2k gold
- Faction hubs in current expansion (Boralus for Alliance, others have said Zuldazar for Horde) and especially when new content gets released with a patch
- Starting areas for new Time Walking leveling campaigns
I sincerely hope additional steps have been taken on the servers, above and beyond anything we’ve seen thus far in the pre-patch live servers, to get ready for the launch of Shadowlands. I’ve heard the story is quite linear up to a point.

Same problem as everyone else, horrible loot and ability latency. Borderline unplayable, feels like dial up.
