Reason why I play warrior in classic over pally, I played as a pally since vanilla 05 & without changes the class is nothing but a joke for classic as it was for vanilla.
What Divenity pointed out are the best choices; or do what I did and have your friend play a hunter; other classes that work are rogue & mages. If you’re trying to solo in world pvp pally lack too much class counters that you have to be very reliant on others unlike being a shammy.

I want to get into classic. I main as a pally in current wow but I was unsure if I should do the same in classic. Aren’t paladins terrible in classic? Should i go hunter instead?
Assuming the item works in Classic the same as it did in Vanilla, the Discombobulator Ray is what you’re looking for. 20% snare, 1 min CD, and dismounts players (gogo leper gnome).

If u want to tank & dps then go warrior, if u want to just melee & have your gameplay similar to current ret then go rogue.
It is fine, it is just you can’t prevent people from running on mount. The burst is better than enhancement shaman. Classic pvp is extremely unbalanced, mage and lock cc has no dr.
