I’m not sure if this is the right forum, but has anyone else noticed some spell delay recently? Both my friend and I who played warrior in keys tonight noticed that when using abilities, we had to press buttons multiple times before the ability would go off. It was happening for me when pressing whirlwind and for him pressing shield block. Our internet is fine and nothing has changed on our side. It only started happening in the last week or so. So far we’ve only noticed this playing warrior.
Are you saying like you’re not gcd locked, you hit WW, nothing happens?
That’s not something I am (or have) experienced.
Fury and prot are both high apm and I could see how being gcd locked could feel like what you’re describing if you play something with a little more relaxed pace normally, but yeah I’m not having issues.
I haven’t noticed anything of the sort myself outside of moments where there’s been connection issues in condensed open world bosses.
Try inputting the following ingame. If you haven’t messed with it, it will spit out a value of 400.
/dump GetCVar("SpellQueueWindow")
Assuming your regular server latency is 25~50ms, you could then put in the following.
/console SpellQueueWindow 150
And this should make the game a little more responsive as the window for queuing your next spell will be reduced, but also still be long enough that it doesn’t cause problems with gameplay and make it feel smoother to play.
For the LIFE of me I can’t figure out why changing it to 150 feels so bad on my warrior. It smoothed out evoker so much for me in DF when I figured out it was a thing, but maybe I’m TOO spammy with my keys?
I genuinely can’t figure out why this feels so bad when I apply it to fury, and my MS is sub 20 most of the time.![]()
It’s gotta be something with how I play it mechanically after 21 years of muscle memory, but hell if I know.
Might be a preference thing, for me the base 400 felt not so responsive so when i found out about CLT (Custom lag tolerance) a while ago (Wod i think) 150 felt the most comfortable for me personally. Some might find it better at different values of 200 or 250, it’s one of those find the best fit for you things.
Yeah I suppose as long as it’s not interfering with input and feel I should probably stop trying to fix what’s not broken, lol.
This is 100% lag tolerance.
It is just a matter of cadence and comfort. Strictly speaking, higher lag tolerance is better, but many players will set theirs lower to make the keypresses feel more reactive (due to a shorter amount of time between actuation and activation).
A lot of users will overcompensate too, though even with the lowest possible ping of <10ms, you still want some amount of tolerance to make up for latency and reaction time. This is why I recommend the majority of users never going below 150, but if you feel just as comfortable with a higher setting, then you’re probably better off for it.
Thank you to everyone who responded. This was a life saver. I felt like I was going crazy by missing my whirlwinds or hitting whirlwind too many times in a row to make up for the delay. Setting my spellqueuewindow to 150 appears to have fixed the issue for me.
Worth reiterating that 150 is the reasonable minimum. You don’t need to hyper minmax it (because we are talking about thousandths of a second here), but more is generally better, so I would highly encourage you to try 200, 250, or 300, and using the highest setting that still feels comfortable.
This was happening to me the other night in Legion Remix on my Fury Warrior. I thought it was my internet connection but I reset router and everything and was still having an issue. I will try the recommend steps others mentioned with the CVAR
