Does Umi no longer offer this quest to engineers, it is still listed in the proefession journal as the quest to learn the Tranquil Mechanical Yeti? I did her other quests to make a Yeti and scare Legacki, but was not offered the quest to learn the recipe on my engineer after that… Would it matter if my engineer is Gnomish specialization?
Sadly, it’s no longer available. The original version of the quest was removed in Cataclysm, and the replacement quest doesn’t reward the recipe.
If you did the quest for the recipe before cata, you were able to keep the recipe after the quest was removed.

That is strange - my other engineer has the recipe, and that character is a goblin (and is a goblin spec engineer), so it had to be available at some point during or after Cata…
